(Ann Arbor, MI) After defeating the Wolverines on Friday evening for Senior Night, the Cardinals quickly resumed WHAC action with an afternoon match against Madonna. Taking advantage of a bye on Friday night in WHAC play, the Crusaders jumped on the Cardinals early, eventually leading to a three game sweep (25-12, 25-16, 25-21)
1st Set – Madonna 25, CUAA 12
The Crusaders efficiently managed a .370 hitting percentage with attackers Jodie Kelly and Taylor Suurmeyer leading the way. The Cardinals failed to find their rythmn early with a -.167 hitting percentage.
2nd Set – Madonna 25, CUAA 16
The Cardinals battled in the early stages of the set with Delaney Bennett (JR/Fruitport, MI) and Gabrielle den Boer (SO/Canton, MI) relying on tip attacks to avoid the Crusader blockers. As a result the Cardinals recorded 11 kills in the set raising their hitting percentage overall.
3rd Set – Madonna 25, CUAA 21
The Cardinals would not go away without a fight giving the Crusaders everything they could handle early. After a Gabrielle den Boer kill to give the Cardinals a 10-7 lead, the Crusaders responded with a timeout. The Cardinals continued to lead 16-13 before the Crusaders started to take control forcing a Cardinals timeout at 16-17. Despite a strong effort from the Cardinals, the Crusaders held off a Cardinals comeback with a 25-21 win complete the sweep.

The Cardinals will host their final regular season game of the season on Wednesday, October 31st. Indiana Tech will pay a visit to Ann Arbor with the match scheduled for 7pm.
