Women's Hockey drops close game to Miami Ohio

(Canton, MI) - Concordia women's hockey played Miami Ohio for the second time in two nights to open up their 2024-25 campaign. It was a defensive heavy matchup, with the cardinals narrowly falling 1-0.

Eva Kingston played 59:35 in net before being pulled for the last 25 seconds of the game to try to gain a 6-on-5 advantage at the end of the game. She compiled an impressive 31 saves on 32 shots to try to give the Cardinal offense what they needed.

The first period was pretty quiet with no goals or penalties for either side. The second period saw the only goal of the game, as the RedHawks' Mandy Cronin found the back of the net at the 2:43 mark. The Cardinals put up ten shots in the period, but were unable to find the back of the net. The third period saw a penalty for each team, but there were no goals scored to keep the score at 1-0. The Cardinals put up another 11 shots on goal, bringing their total to 35, but it was just not their night. Sara Kaczmarek, Mallory Collins, and Dakota Harmon combined for 19 shots on the day to lead the Cardinal attack.

Your Cardinals will be back Friday, October 25th at home against Indiana Tech.
