Softball concludes season at WHAC Tournament

(Livonia, MI) - CUAA softball faced off against #2 seed Cornerstone University in an elimination game on Friday morning to continue WHAC Tournament play The Cardinals rallied from a 2-run deficit to take a 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh, but the Golden Eagles responded in the bottom half for a 4-3 win. 

 

Paige Anderson threw a complete game with one strikeout. Cornerstone opened scoring with one run in the third inning In the fourth inning, the Cardinals loaded the bases after Faith Crampton and Madalyne Wieneke drew walks and Summer Brady reached first base with a single However, Cornerstone prevented any runs from scoring and added a solo home run in the fifth inning.   

 

In the sixth inning, Bella Lee hit an RBI single to drive in Emmi Liptow. Maddy Greuter gave the Cardinals the lead in the seventh inning with a 2-RBI single scoring Faith Cramton and Katie Tobias.   

 

Cornerstone was able to score two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to claim a 4-3 victory.  

 

The Cardinals finish the year with a 22-17-1 overall record and a 15-8-1 record in WHAC play.
