Tobias and Cramton named to the WHAC All-Conference First Team to headline Softball honor's

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced their yearly awards and several Concordia Cardinals were named among the two All-Conference teams. The awards were highlighted by a duo of Cardinals being named to the First Team All-Conference. 

 

These players were voted on by coaches before the start of postseason. All stats mentioned are as of the final regular season game on April 26. 

 


FIRST TEAM

Katie Tobias | Senior | Battle Creek, Michigan

Tobias has been named to an All-Conference team for her third straight season, being named to the Second Team last year and First Team back in 2023. Tobias has 40 RBI's on the season, which is 10th in the WHAC. Tobias is also near the top in the WHAC in hits (45, 22nd in WHAC), home runs (5, 9th in the WHAC), and doubles (13, 7th in WHAC).

 

Faith Cramton | Junior | Canton, Michigan

Cramton makes her first appearance on a WHAC All-Conference team. She has recorded a 0.456 batting average this season, which is fourth in the WHAC while also collecting 57 hits and  hitting 43 RBI's, which are 7th and 8th respectively in the WHAC. Cramton is also fourth and fifth in the conference in home runs and doubles with 7 and 15 respectively. 

 


SECOND TEAM

Payton Lewis | Senior | Vicksburg, Michigan

Lewis earns her fourth-straight All-Conference honors with her Second Team honor this season. Throughout the season, Lewis has collected 48 hits (18th in the WHAC), 8 doubles (19th in the WHAC), and 2 triples (14th in the WHAC). She also scored 41 runs, which is 10th most. 

 

Maddy Grueter | Senior | Kalamazoo, Michigan

Grueter makes her second appearance on an All-Conference team as she was a First Teamer back in 2022. Her batting average of 0.361 and slugging percentage of 0.525 this season are both the 26th best in the WHAC. She tallied 11 doubles on the year which was 12th most in the WHAC. 

 

Elyse Brittain | Senior | Lansing, Michigan

The senior makes her first appearance on an All-Conference team as she hit 0.353 on the season with 24 hits. In addition, Brittain has hit six home runs this season, which is 7th most in the WHAC. She tallied 20 RBI's and 13 runs this year as well. 

 


ALL-DEFENSIVE TEAM

Faith Cramton | Junior | Canton, Michigan

In addition to the First Team honors, Cramton was also named to the WHAC All-Defensive team with a 0.993 fielding percentage. Throughout the season Cramton has recorded 264 putouts (3rd in WHAC) and 11 assists while only making 2 errors. 

 


CHAMPIONS OF CHARACTER

Brooklin Cox was recognized as the team's WHAC Champion of Character. The junior was honored for her commitment to the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

 


ALL-ACADEMIC

The WHAC announced their All-Academic teams, which involve being a sophomore in Academic standing and having a cumulative GPA of 3.25. The 15 Cardinals honored were Paige Anderson, Summer Brady, Elyse Brittain, Brooklin Cox, Hannah Duchene, Jayla Foster, Maddy Grueter, Bella Lee, Payton Lewis, Emmi Liptow, Megan Martin, Kaleigh McClelland, Lauryn Rhodea, Emma Thompson, Madalyne Wieneke
