Gavin Scally named the NAIA Defensive Player of the Week

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced their weekly Player of the Week's for Men's Lacrosse and Concordia Cardinals Gavin Scally earned NAIA Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in his Cardinal career.

Scally, a junior from Lambertville, Michigan, went 41-64 on faceoff this past week for a 64.1% faceoff percentage. He won 25 faceoff's in the regular season finale against Lawrence Tech on Saturday and picked up a career high 19 ground balls, which ties the single game record. Scally recorded 32 total ground balls throughout the pair of games and scored a goal against LTU.

Scally joins Joe Loria, who was also named Defensive Player of the Week earlier this season. This is the fifth award a Cardinal defender has earned NAIA Defensive Player of the Week as Sam Bowling earned twice and Sam Saje won once. Blake Blaisdell, Hunter McCarty, and Devin Wolever have won on the Offensive end.

The Men's Lacrosse team will be back on the field today, April 22, for the First Round of the WHAC Tournament with a game against Taylor at 4 PM.
