Men's golf participates in Lourdes Invitational

The Cardinals participated in the Lourdes Invite on Tuesday, April 13th. The invitational took place at The Legacy Golf Club in Ottawa Lake, Mich. The Cardinals struggled to find their rythmn throughout the day and posted a 368 total. Ohio Dominican took first place honors with a team total of 295.

Joshua Line posted an 82 to lead the Cardinals. Dalton Steigler was the second scorer for the Cardinals with an 88. Layne Pries posted a 91 followed by Zach Burk with a 94. Will Heiber and Samuel Homann rounded out the Cardinals scoring with a 94 and 114 respectively.

Nick Althouse was disqualified due to making a mistake on the 8th hole, par 3, and failing to correct the mistake before teeing off on the ninth hole. The detail on that (if you're curious) is as follows: he teed off and his golf ball bounced on the green, then ran off the back right. He did not go up to check on his golf ball (believing it was lost - first mistake), and dropped a new golf ball in the drop zone. By that point, his playing partners had gone up to the green and found his original golf ball - at which point Nick picked up the new golf ball he had put into play in the drop zone (second mistake). Nick then played out the hole with his original golf ball. The nail in the coffin came when he teed off on the next hole, failing to correct the mistake of picking up his new, dropped ball and playing the wrong, original golf ball - at which point, he became disqualified.

From an individual standpoint, Layne Pries posted a 91 in his single season tournament, Andrew Burk posted a 98, and Sam Homman posted a 114 in his single season tournament.
