Men's golf participates in Bill Bockwitz Fall Classic hosted at The Grande Club

(Jackson, Mich.) The men's golf team continued their fall season scheduled at the Bill Bockwitch Fall Classic. The two day event featured 36 holes at The Grande Golf Club in Jackson, Mich. The event was hosted by Spring Arbor University and featured some of the top NAIA teams throughout the midwest. The Cardinals finished 12 overall.

 

Coming off his individual championship at the Cardinal Invite last week, Nick Althouse (JR/Canadian Lakes, MI) led the Cardinals on day one with rounds of +4 and +16,. Josh Line continued his solid play for the Cardinals as well with a 36 round total of +20. Perry Melcher (SR/Stevensville, MI), Layne Pries (SO/Ann Arbor, MI), and Travis Lysiak (SO/Muskegon, MI) rounded out the Cardinals 36 hole scoring on day one. After 36 holes, the Cardinals totaled 693 (338 round 1 and 355 round 2)

 

Day two featured an 18 hole round to complete the event. Perry Melcher led the Cardinals with a low round of 82. Nick Althouse and Joshua Line (SO/Bloomfield Hills, MI) were close behind with totals of 84 and 88 respectively. Will Heiber (SO/Howell, MI) also turned in a solid round for the Cardinals with an 85. The Cardinals turned in a 344 team total bring the three day event to 1033.

 

Marian University earned team honors with a three day total of 880. Marian's Jay Williams was the individual low scorer with a -2 214.

 

The Cardinals will return to action this Saturday as Lawrence Technological University will host the LTU Tournament. The tournament will be held at Washtenaw Golf Club which is where the Cardinals hosted the Cardinal Invite last week.
