(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia's Softball program entered their third season under Head Coach Hailey Cavanagh in 2020 led by a large core of seniors. The Cardinals made a run to the semifinals of the NCCAA World Series in 2019 and had their sights set on a return before their season was cut short. Most of the seniors recall the experience of reaching the NCCAA World Series as the highlight of their Concordia careers.
Tyffani Bryan has attended Concordia for all 4 years of her collegiate career. She hails from Tecumseh, Michigan, and is a Nursing major. Tyffani says that the team's best quality is how they were a "family and always having each other's backs." Bryan states that her time at Concordia has been "extraordinary".
Bryan played all over the left side of the infield and outfield for the Cardinals, boasting a career fielding percentage over 90.0%. Tyffani led off for the Cardinals often and brought a high average bat with some pop as she hit for .310 over her career while slugging .444.
Carley Drzewiecki has attended Concordia for all 4 years of her collegiate career. She hails from Traverse City, Michigan, and is a Nursing major. Carley says that the team's best quality was the "goofiness and craziness we all share." Drzewiecki states that her time at Concordia has been "unbelievable".
Carley patrolled the outfield for the Cards and touted an impressive 96.5 fielding percentage over her career. On the base paths Carley posed a threat as she was able to swipe 23 bags over the course of her four seasons.
Hannah Economou has attended Concordia for all 3 years of her collegiate career. She hails from Quincy, Michigan, and is graduating a year early as a Nursing major. Hannah says that the team's best quality was "our love for the game and each other." Economou states that she is "thankful" for her time at Concordia.
Hannah came to Concordia primarily as a pitcher, but transitioned to first base throughout her three years. She never committed an error in the field and her career average at the plate was .250.
Kassidy Grandorff has attended Concordia for all 4 years of her collegiate career. She hails from Rochester, Washington, and is a Nursing major. Kassidy says that the team's best quality was how they were like her "second family." Grandorff states that her time at Concordia has been "prosperous".
Kassidy played primarily at second base for the Cardinals where she had a fielding percentage of 92.0% throughout her career. As a baserunner she accumulated 9 stolen bases as well.
Alyssa Jabara has attended Concordia for all 4 years of her collegiate career. She hails from Warren, Michigan, and is an Exercise Science major. Alyssa says that the team's best quality was their "high energy." Jabara states that her time at Concordia has been "unforgettable".
Alyssa spent her career behind the plate as a catcher for Concordia and was efficient with a 96.0 fielding percentage and four runners thrown out attempting to steal. When hitting she averaged .271 over her four year career.
Mikailah Jackson spent two seasons as the Cardinals' student manager after transferring from Lansing Community College. Mikailah says that the team's best quality was their "goofy spirits." Jackson states that her time at Concordia has been "transformational".
Megan Laib attended Concordia for three years after transferring in before her sophomore year. She hails from Tinley Park, Illinois, and is a Criminal Justice major. Megan says that the team's best quality was their "family atmosphere." Laib describes her time at Concordia as "blessed".
While playing at third base for the Cardinals, Laib punished other teams with her bat. She hit for average (.356) and power (.554 SLG %) throughout her career while accumulating 112 total bases.
Annie Leiding also transferred to Concordia prior to her sophomore year and has spent three years at Concordia. She hails from Barrington, Illinois, and is an Exercise Science major. Annie says that the team's best quality was how they could be "hardworking and determined, while always having fun." Leiding describes her time at Concordia as "family".
Leiding played in the outfield for the Cardinals and was a lefty slapper at the plate. Her approach produced a .274 career on base percentage along with 10 stolen bases.
Grace Majeran has attended Concordia for all 3 years of her collegiate career. She hails from Queen Creek, Arizona, and is graduating a year early as a Nursing major. Grace says that the team's best quality was their "perseverance through both the good and the bad." Majeran describes her time at Concordia as "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious".
Majeran was an infielder for the Cardinals and brought a high average bat to the order. She hit for .333 over her career and stole four bases when running.
Carly Pearson has attended Concordia for all 4 years of her collegiate career. She hails from San Diego, California, and is a Criminal Justice/Psychology major. Carly says that the team's best quality was how they were "one big family who always has fun." Pearson states that her time at Concordia has been "memorable".
Most commonly playing at second base, Pearson was a consistent presence in the field and at the plate. She found her way on base often (.333 OBP) and swiped six bags throughout her career.
Melanie Richardson spent two seasons with the Cardinals after transferring in before her junior year. She hails from Livonia, Michigan, and is a Secondary Education major. Melanie says that the team's best quality was their "drive to compete and win." Richardson states that her time at Concordia has been "unforgettable".
Richardson shined both as a pitcher and shortstop for the Cards. On the mound she earned a 7-2 record with a 1.00 ERA and 1.09 WHIP over 56 innings. At the plate she brought power to the lineup with a .531 career slugging percentage.
Kendall Sampang has attended Concordia for all 4 years of her collegiate career. She hails from Canyon Lake, California, and is an Exercise Science major. Kendall says that the team's best quality was how they had "a lot of fun together as a tight bunch." Sampang states that her time at Concordia has been "humbling".
Playing in the outfielder and designated hitter roles, Sampang got on base at a .236 clip while never committing an error in the field.
