(Grand Rapids, MI) - CUAA baseball faced #3 seed Indiana Tech on Saturday afternoon in an elimination game in the WHAC Tournament. The Cardinals battled hard and kept the game close, but the Warriors advanced with a 2-0 win.
Drew Murphy pitched the first three innings of the game for the Cardinals. Indiana Tech opened scoring with a run in the second inning.
In the third inning, Tyler Lawson and Jake Kuhlman got on base with singles but the Cardinals were unable to score a run.
Trey Acker came on to pitch in the fourth inning, recording one strikeout in three innings of work. Indiana Tech extended their lead with a run in the bottom of the fifth.
Blake Weaver pitched the seventh and eighth innings, notching one strikeout. In the ninth inning, the Cardinals threatened after Gus Simon and Kyle Hebner singled to put runners at the corners. However, Indiana Tech was able to close out the game with a double play.
The Cardinals will now await details on NCCAA postseason play.
