Concordia 3, Indiana University-Southeast 1
#25 Mount Vernon Nazarene 3, Concordia University 0
(September 6, 2008 - Mount Vernon, Ohio) -- The Concordia volleyball team picked up their sixth win in a row on Saturday morning after knocking off the Grenadiers of Indiana University-Southeast in four sets. The victory set up a match-up against the #25 Cougars of Mount Vernon Nazarene on the host school's home court. MVNU showed why they are ranked where they are as the dispatched the upstart Cards in straight sets ending the Concordia winning streak.
After dropping the first set against IUSE 25-19, Concordia rattled off three straight wins by the exact same score each time: 25-22 to win the match 3-1.
The win moved Concordia to 9-1 on the season and a true test of where the program is at during the early part of the season. Mount Vernon came out strong with a 25-13 win in the first set and despite stronger efforts by the Cards in the next two sets, the Cougars prevailed without a loss winning 25-18 and 25-19.
The next game for Concordia will feature a very familiar, but even more formidable foe, in #10 Madonna University. The Cards will host the Crusaders on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m to open the 2008 conference slate.
