(Ann Arbor, MI) - The women's track and field team hosted their final Alumni Legacy meet. The Women earned 12 new personal records and six season best efforts.
The sprinters found their speed, even without the warmest weather. Emma Puwal (Freshman; Utica, MI) ran to two personal records. She started with a personal record in the 100 with a finishing time of 13.68 seconds. She would follow that up with a personal best in the 200 with a time of 27.69 seconds.
Jayde Ullenbruch (Sophomore; Port Huron, MI) also ran to three personal records. The first coming in the 100 prelims by finishing in 12.95 seconds. She then ran to a new personal record time in the 100 hurdles in 15.50 seconds and claimed the win. She finished her day on the track with a personal record in the 200 with a time of 27.73 seconds. Ullenbruch also competed in Long Jump and finished with a jump of 5.17 meters.
Merin Merkle (Sophomore; Monroe, MI) and Elizabeth Hines (Sophomore; Ypsilanti, MI) both ran to new personal record times in the 400. Merkle finished third with a time of 1:07.99, followed by Hines in fourth with a time of 1;08.84.
Michaela Kurth (Sophomore; Ypsilanti, MI) finished second in the 800 with a final time of 2:42. Chloe Gunter (Senior; Monroe, MI) finished in third place with a time of 2:43 and a season best effort. Grace Finley (Sophomore; Monroe, MI) finished in fifth place in a time of 2:49 and Hines finished in eighth place in 2:50. Hines and Finley also ran to a season best effort.
Rachael Byers (Sophomore; Plymouth, MI) led the way in the 1500 with a sixth-place finish and a final time of 5:17. Kurth finished in 10 with a time of 5:29, followed by Finley in 5:39 and Alison Doerr (Junior; Grand Haven, MI) running to a new personal record effort of 5:58.
In the 5k, Macee Ripke (Sophomore; Napoleon, OH) ran to a 30 second improvement and finished third overall with a time of 19:44. Amanda Fogo (Junior; Fowlerville, MI) ran to a season best time of 21:42 and finished in seventh.
Fogo, Ripke, Byers and Doerr competed in the 4x400 relay and finished in fourth place with a finishing time of 4:53.
Quinn Stefanski (Senior; Munger, MI) led the way in Hammer, Discus and Shot Put for the Cardinals. As she threw a season best effort in Shot Put with a distance of 10.39 meters. She followed that up with a personal record in discus with a distance of 31.06 meters, finished fifth in javelin with a throw of 21.38 meters and finished second in hammer with a throw of 39.77 meters.
Maya Freeman (Sophomore; Fort Gratiot, MI) finished fifth in shot put with a season best throw of 9.90 meters. She also competed in discus and finished with a throw of 25.15 meters. Freeman also competed in Hammer with a final distance of 32.05 meters.
Hailey Stausiukinas (Senior; Grand Rapids, MI) competed in a variety of events, including shot put, where she finished with a throw of 8.81 meters. She threw a new personal record in discus with a distance of 14.50 meters. Stausiukinas finished with a distance of 4.02 meters in Long Jump to finish in fifth. She would cap her weekend by winning Javelin with a throw of 28.13 meters.
Christina Smith ( Sophomore; Saginaw, MI) competed in Javelin and Discus. Smith threw a new personal record in Discus with a throw of 23.94 meters. She also finished in third with throw of 24.88 meters in Javelin.
Morgan Jenkins (Junior; Cleveland, OH) competed in Hammer and Discus. Jenkins finished with a throw of 21.83 meters in discus. She also finished in third place in Hammer with a throw of 38.58 meters.
The Women's team will compete in the WHAC Championships at Siena Heights on Thursday, May 1 and Friday, May 2.
