Ullenbruch hits NCCAA Mark and breaks Long Jump School record at the Elaine Leigh Invite

(Rochester Hills, MI) - The women's track and field team competed at the Elaine Leigh Invite at Oakland University over the Easter Weekend. The women's program came away with five personal records, two season-best times, one new collegiate mark, one NCCAA qualifier and one school record.

Jayde Ullenbruch (Sophomore; Port Huron, MI) had an incredible day on Friday in the Long Jump. As Ullenbruch hit the NCCAA standard with her first jump. She broke her record with her second and third jump. She then tied the school record with her fourth jump and broke it with her fifth jump of 5.55 meters. Ullenbruch finished in second place in long jump.

On Saturday, Ullenbruch also set a personal record in the 100-meter dash, 13.05 seconds, and a new personal record in the 100-meter hurdles, 15.76 seconds.

Emma Puwal (Freshman; Utica, MI) won the 200 meters with a final time of 28.99 seconds. She also finished the 400 meters at 1:05.51. 

Also competing in the 400, Merin Merkle (Sophomore; Monroe, MI) ran to a new personal record time of 1:08.53. Elizabeth Hines (Sophomore; Ypsilanti, MI) also ran to a new personal record time of 1:09.71 seconds. Chloe Gunter (Senior; Monroe, MI) ran to a season-best time of 1:13.14. Jenna Oberly (Sophomore; Dearborn, MI) made her collegiate debut in the 400 and finished in 1:22.88.

In the 800, Michaela Kurth (Sophomore; Ypsilanti, MI) led the way by finishing at 2:41. Gunter, Hines and Oberly competed in the 800. Gunter finished in 2:46, followed by a season best by Hines in 2:50 and Oberly running a new personal record time of 3:07.

Macee Ripke (Sophomore; Napoleon, OH) and Rachael Byers (Sophomore; Plymouth, MI) led the way in the 1500, finishing in times of 5:17 and 5:22. Kurth finished right behind in a time of 5:25. Grace Finley (Sophomore; Monroe, MI) and Alison Doerr (Junior; Grand Haven, MI) also competed in the event. Finley crossed the line in 6:02, while Doerr ran to a record time of 6:14.

Amanda Fogo (Junior; Fowlerville, MI) competed in the 10k and finished at 47:58.

In throwing events, Christina Smith (Sophomore; Saginaw, MI) won Javelin with a throw of 30.70 meters. Quinn Stefanski (Senior; Munger, MI) finished in seventh place in the hammer throw with a distance of 40.77 meters. Morgan Jenkins (Junior; Cleveland, OH) finished in 11 place with a throw of 33.80 meters. Maya Freeman (Sophomore;Fort Gratiot, MI) finished with a final distance of 22.21 meters.

Merkle competed in the high jump and finished in sixth place with clearing a height of 1.45 meters.

The team will be back in action this weekend for the Alumni Legacy Meet hosted at Concordia Ann Arbor. The event will be two days long. Throwing and jumping events will be on Friday. Then, on Saturday, there will be senior and alumni recognition and running events.
