Men's Bowling ready for 2024-25 season

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals Men's Bowling team heads to the lanes for the first time of the 2024-25 season on Saturday when they host the Dirty Bird Classic at the Jax 60 in Jackson, Michigan. 

 

The Head Coach for both teams this season is Rob Lancioni, who is in his 8th season with CUAA and takes over for long-time Head Coach Doug Spicer.

TEAM PERSONNEL

There are 15 Cardinals this season with nine returners and six freshmen. The freshmen include Clinton Harris III, Mason Hopkins, Tyler Koehn, Zach Pedro, Kaden Salts, and Nicholas Schaberg

 

The sophomores on the team are Brandon Hiestand, Kenji London, and Connor Rogus. Rogus leads the bunch with an average of 205.98 per game throughout the team-leading 64 games. London was close behind with an average of 200.81 over 43 games, while Hiestand averaged 173.56 pins over 27 games. 

 

David Schaberg is the top junior returning after averaging 201.51 pins per game throughout 51 games. Hunter Fletcher is the only other returning junior, he finished the season with a 185.21 average. 

 

Conner Lackey returns as the top season of the group of four that are back after averaging 201.94 last year. Caleb Gard is the next player with an average of 179.83. Marek Bernhardt and David Smalls are the final two seniors, averaging 160 and 159 per game. 

 

The Cardinals are headed by Rob Lancioni who is assisted by Makayla Lancioni and Korey Reichard. 

 


2023 SEASON IN REVIEW

The Cardinals started the season strong, taking home a first-place finish at the Inaugural Dirty Bird Classic. They battled their way through the season and the four conference Jamborees and ended up with a fourth-place finish in the regular season. 

 

CUAA earned an at-large bid to the 2024 NAIA Championship last March, for the first time since the 2018-19 season. The Cardinals were ninth following the baker games and would fall to St. Francis (IL) and Marian in tournament play. 

 


2024 SCHEDULE

Following the Dirty Bird Classic this weekend, the Cardinals will compete at the first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament of the season on September 28. 

 

October will feature the Cards traveling to the Midwest Collegiate Championships in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and the first and second American Heartland Tournament in Canton, Michigan. 

 

The second WHAC Tournament will lead off the month of November in Clinton Township, Michigan, followed by the Leatherneck Classic in Rockford, Illinois. 

 

WHAC Tournament #3 will kick off in December and that is followed by the Cardinals traveling out to Las Vegas, Nevada for the Glenn Carlson Invitational and the Collegiate Shootout. 

 

The New Year will see the Cardinals take on the fifth American Heartland Tournament, the Kegel Collegiate Classic, and the final WHAC Tournament of the season. 

 

February will feature the Hoosier Classic followed by the WHAC Championship on February 23. 

 


As announced on June 13th by CUWAA President Erik Ankerberg, the 2024-25 Academic Year will serve as the final season for CUAA Athletics.
