Kolka and Leitzow Qualify for NCCAA Nationals at the Bill Bippes Invitational

(Spring Arbor, MI) - The men's track and field program continued its season by traveling to Spring Arbor on Saturday, April 12, for the Bill Bippes Invitational. The team ended the meet with three personal records, four collegiate debuts, two season-best efforts and two NCCAA qualifiers.

The throwers led the way by picking up all three personal records and the NCCAA qualifying marks. Dawson Kolka (Freshman; Sanford, MI) threw a new personal record and an NCCAA qualifying mark in discus with a throw of 38.08 meters. Kolka also competed in the Hammer throw and finished with a distance of 28.75 meters.

Jesse Lietzow (Sophomore; St. Clair Shores, MI) also earned an NCCAA qualifying mark in Shot Put with a throw of 12.91 meters, his best throw of the outdoor season. Lietzow also threw a hammer and finished at 37.92 meters.

Scott Smith (Senior; Saginaw, MI) competed in Javelin and threw a season-best distance of 46.98 meters.

Ryan Reynolds (Junior; Northville,MI) threw a new personal best record in Hammer and Discus. Reynolds finished in tenth place in Hammer with a throw of 43.24 meters. In discus, Reynolds personal best flew a distance of 33.68 meters.

Jackson Miles (Senior; Brighton, MI) made his collegiate debut in High Jump and the 400. Miles cleared 1.50 meters in High Jump. Miles also finished in 56.29 in his 400 debut.

Hayden Prone (Sophomore; Fort Gratiot, MI) also made his collegiate debut in an event. Prone debuted in the 100 and finished with a time of 12.62 seconds. He also competed in the 200 and finished with a time of 26.16 seconds.

Freshman Eric Breidert (Wenatachee, WA) made his collegiate debut in the 5000 meters. Breidert finished the race in 19:37.

Dominic Catallo (Sophomore; Westland, MI) competed in the 800 meter and finished at 2:10.

The men's team will compete on Friday and Saturday at Oakland University for the Elaine Leigh Invite.
