(Ann Arbor, MI) - The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) released their All-NCCAA teams for the 2024 season on Friday morning and several Cardinals earned honors on both the first and second-team lists.
FIRST TEAM
WILL DOWLING | SR | OAK HARBOR, OHIO
This season marks the fourth time Will Dowling has earned All-NCCAA honors with now two first-team and two second-team honors. Dowling anchored the Cardinal offensive line that was second in the NCCAA in rushing yards with 2,112.
KELLY MATTHEWS | JR | DETROIT, MICHIGAN
Kelly Matthews makes his first appearance on an All-NCCAA team. Matthews was a key piece in the Cardinal defensive backfield as recorded eight pass breakups this season, which was tied for the second most in the NCCAA. He added 43 tackles with 3.5 being for a loss.
CAIDEN THOMAS | SO | NEW BALTIMORE, MICHIGAN
The sophomore kicker, Caiden Thomas, appears on the All-NCCAA team for the first time in his Cardinal career. Thomas tallied the most field goals in the NCCAA this season with 12 as he would also go on to record the highest percentage at 85.7%. He was eighth in the NCCAA in points scored this season with 70.
SECOND TEAM
LOGAN HAY | SR | HOUSTON, TEXAS
Logan Hay is making his first appearance on the All-NCCAA Second Team after collecting 12 catches on the year for 256 yards. Hay averaged 21.3 yards per catch this season.
DEVIN ROITER | SR | OLIVET, MICHIGAN
Senior lineman, Devin Roiter, showed off his versatility this season, playing multiple positions. This honor marks the first time that Roiter has appeared on an All-NCCAA team. The Cardinals as a team averaged 350 yards per game with 192 coming from rushing and 158 from passing, which were all top-8 in the NCCAA.
DAVID CAGLE | SR | ALLEN PARK, MICHIGAN
The 2023 NCCAA Defensive Player of the Year, David Cagle makes his second straight appearance on an All-NCCAA Team, getting second team accolades this year. Cagle recorded the seventh most sacks in the NCCAA this season with six and was 13th in tackles for loss with 9.5. He also tallied 36 total tackles on the year.
CHASE MAYNARD | JR | PLAIN CITY, OHIO
Chase Maynard makes his first All-NCCAA appearance of his career after leading the NCCAA in tackles with 101. His 44 solo tackles were fifth in the nation, and recorded two tackles for loss and an interception.
DAVION COATS | FR | PONTIAC, MICHIGAN
The freshman cornerback, Davion Coats, makes his first appearance on the All-NCCAA team. Coats was tied for seventh in the nation with four interceptions and was first in the NCCAA with three "pick sixes" on the year, which came in three straight games. He also returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown and was second in the NCCAA with 8 passes broken up.
