The Smash Ultimate team had a much better showing this week in the Tech Chase Major League but still came up empty in the win column, losing to undefeated and playoff favorite Michigan State by a final score of 6-0 and close rival Davenport by a final score of 2-0. There is one more week of regular season play left with the Cardinals in a mix of three other teams who are all battling for playoff spots and seeding. The Cardinals wrap up their regular season on 2/23 with Central Michigan at 6:00pm and Kettering at 7:00pm. Both matches can be watched at twitch.tv/techchasegg2
The Call of Duty team continued their league play in CCL with losses to Purdue University and Northwood. Despite the end result, the team has been making noticeable strides in their play as they have been taking rounds in the various match formats. They play again on 2/23 with matches against University of Illinois at 8:00pm and Grand Valley State University at 9:30pm.
Some of our other teams begin their pre-season in PlayVS, a nationally supported league for various esports titles. Overwatch will play for the first time on 2/22. Fortnite solos will go on 2/23. Fortnite trios and Madden solos will go on 2/24. Each of those teams will then begin their official season the following week.
We are still looking for the next great recruit for all of our teams in addition to students interested in stream broadcasting and/or community/social media management. If you are interested, contact the Director of Esports, Dominic Scala, at dominic.scala@cuaa.edu.
