        <title>[Women's Basketball] Concordia Adds Kent City Standout, Kara Carlson</title>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia University Women's Basketball team is excited to announce the signing of Kara Carlson. Kara Carlson comes to Concordia from Kent City, MI where she attended Kent City High School. &lt;/div&gt;
&amp;nbsp;
&lt;div&gt;Kara was a standout player for the Kent City Eagles where she was coached by her father, Scott Carlson. During her senior year campaign she helped lead the team to a 24-1 record. She averaged 13.2 points per game, while shooting 49.6% from the field and 36% from behind the arc. Kara averaged 5.6 assists per game, while only averaging 1.9 turnovers. Kara's outstanding career earned her OK Silver All-Conference 1&lt;SUP&gt;st&lt;/SUP&gt; team and All-Area 1&lt;SUP&gt;st&lt;/SUP&gt; team accolades her junior and senior years. Not only was Kara recognized in her area, but state wide as well. She was named BCAM All-State and Academic All-State the past two years. &lt;/div&gt;
&amp;nbsp;
&lt;div&gt;Concordia Head Coach Andrea Gorski is excited to bring on a shooter of Kara's ability. Coach Gorski stated that &quot;Kara is a key addition because she is an outstanding three point shooter who will help stretch the defense and make us more difficult to guard. She also knows the game so well as is evident by her great assist to turnover ratio. Most importantly, she is a winner and will not settle for anything less.&quot;&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;div&gt;At Concordia, Kara will be majoring in Elementary Education. &lt;/div&gt;

        <title>[Baseball] BASEBALL ADDS TWO HUGE PIECES TO THEIR LINEUP</title>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia Baseball program is proud to announce two more highly sought after recruits will be joining the team in the fall! The first signing is a 6'1&quot; 200lbs 3&lt;SUP&gt;rd&lt;/SUP&gt; baseman named Kyle Frey from Stratford, Ontario. Kyle attended St. Michaels's Catholic Secondary School. He is the son of Jamie and Julie Frey and has a brother named Kelton. This past summer Kyle hit .325 with 14 doubles. Cardinals Head Coach Kyle Rayl said this about Kyle, &quot;Kyle is a big strong kid that has a lot of potential to do great things here at Concordia.&quot; Kyle plans to major in Exercise Science while he attends Concordia. &lt;/div&gt;

&lt;div&gt;The second signing is a 6'3'' 200lbs outfielder named Jeremy Robinson from Lincoln Trail CC. Jeremy is the son of Darryl Sr. and Carla Robinson and he has two brothers, Darryl Jr. and Cody. Jeremy attended Bryan High School where he earned 1&lt;SUP&gt;st&lt;/SUP&gt; Team All-League honors and 1&lt;SUP&gt;st&lt;/SUP&gt; Team All-District honors both his junior and senior years. Jeremy was also named to the 2&lt;SUP&gt;nd&lt;/SUP&gt; Team All-Ohio his senior year. While at Lincoln Trail CC he batted over .300 with 5 homeruns, 40 RBI's, 4 triples, and 13 doubles. Coach Rayl stated this about Jeremy, &quot;Jeremy is an all around player. He can throw, run, hit and defend. He will play a big role in the success of our program for the next two years.&quot; Jeremy is planning on majoring in Criminal Justice at Concordia.&lt;/div&gt;

        <title>[Men's Track] Track Signs Croslex HS Sprinter and Long Jumper, Justin Armstead</title>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia University's Track and Field team recently signed Justin Armstead from Croslex High School in Croswell, Michigan. Justin ran track and played football for the Pioneers. In track Justin excelled, as he earned either All-Conference or Honorable Mention honors all four years. He went to the state tournament three times in his high school career and placed 7&lt;SUP&gt;th&lt;/SUP&gt; in the State in the triple jump during one indoor season. In his career at Croslex HS Justin ran the 100 and 200 and also competed in the long jump and the triple jump. Justin also was an exception student at Croslex as he earned All-Academic honors both his junior and senior years.&lt;/div&gt;

        <description>&lt;P&gt;(Adrian, MI) - The Concordia Men's Track and Field team competed at the WHAC Championship Meet held at Siena Heights University this past Saturday and had some good results. Freshmen, Stone Hadley placed 2&lt;SUP&gt;nd&lt;/SUP&gt; in the javelin, throwing a 53.15 or 174'04&quot;, earning him All-Conference 2&lt;SUP&gt;nd&lt;/SUP&gt; team and eight points. The team had 15 points overall for a sixth place finish in the team race. &quot;Stone threw with enthusiasm and determination,&quot; said Head Coach Steve Montgomery. &quot;He just kept getting better and better throughout the competition and had an awesome PR,&quot; he added. Hadley also placed 6&lt;SUP&gt;th&lt;/SUP&gt; in the shot put and 6&lt;SUP&gt;th&lt;/SUP&gt; in the discus, throwing PRs (personal records) and a school record throw of 14.17 in the shot put an 43.33 in the discus. &quot;Stone had a great freshmen season and really proved himself as our number one thrower,&quot; Montgomery added. &lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;div&gt;(Ann Arbor, MI) - The 2012 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference softball awards have been announced. The Lady Cards were well represented throughout and 8 different Cardinals earned accolades. Four of those eight individuals earned at least two different awards.&lt;/div&gt;&amp;nbsp; 
&lt;div&gt;Senior Jeni Bollenbacher was named to the conference All-Academic Team, named an All-American Scholar Athlete, earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors, earned the Champions of Character Award, and was named Pitcher of the Week back on April 3&lt;SUP&gt;rd&lt;/SUP&gt;.&lt;/div&gt;&amp;nbsp; 
&lt;div&gt;Senior Karen Greficz and junior Grace Muller were both named to the Honorable Mention All-Conference Team as well as the All-Academic Team.&lt;/div&gt;&amp;nbsp; 
&lt;div&gt;Freshman Angela Martin was named to the Honorable Mention All-Conference Team and also was named Player of the Week back on April 24&lt;SUP&gt;th&lt;/SUP&gt;.&lt;/div&gt;&amp;nbsp; 
&lt;div&gt;Seniors Catherine Herriman and Erica Hayworth were both named to the All-Academic Team while fellow senior Erin DiRobbio was named to the Honorable Mention All-Conference Team.&lt;/div&gt;&amp;nbsp; 
&lt;div&gt;Cardinals Head Coach Greg Brierley in his first season lead Concordia to a 23-23 season capturing 4&lt;SUP&gt;th&lt;/SUP&gt; place in the WHAC and was named Co-Coach of the Year along with Davenport's Ronda Varnesdeel.&lt;/div&gt;&amp;nbsp; 
&lt;div&gt;The Cardinals had a fine season surpassing win totals over the last decade and also setting the school record with a 10 game winning streak. A number of Cardinals also etched their names into the history books as all-time leaders in a number of Concordia records. Look for those records to be posted shortly.&lt;/div&gt;&amp;nbsp;

&lt;div&gt;(Ann Arbor, MI) - The 2012 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference baseball awards have been announced. The Cardinals were well represented as 12 different Cardinals were honored. Senior Ryan Neu earned 3 conference awards earning Academic All-Conference Honors, Honorable Mention All-Conference, and the Champions of Character Award. Sophomore Chase Freeman was named 1&lt;SUP&gt;st&lt;/SUP&gt; All-Conference, seniors Jim Rousseau and Ryan Noack and juniors Tom Sperry and Jarred Janssen were all named Honorable Mention All-Conference.&lt;/div&gt;&amp;nbsp; 
&lt;div&gt;A number of other Cardinals excelled in the classroom as well as on the field. Seniors Alex Reuter, Will Tidwell, Aaron Shook, Ryan Neu (previously mentioned), and juniors Garrett Keeler and Justin Litzner were all named to the All-Conference All-Academic Team.&lt;/div&gt;&amp;nbsp;

        <title>[Women's Basketball] Women's Basketball Signs Cedar Springs Phenom Tiffany Karger</title>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia University Women's Basketball team is pleased to announce the signing of Tiffany Karger. Tiffany comes to Concordia from Cedar Springs, Michigan where she attended Cedar Springs High School in the OK-Blue Conference. &lt;/div&gt;
&amp;nbsp;
&lt;div&gt;Tiffany was a four year varsity basketball player for the Red Hawks, and led them to a 16-5 overall record this past year. In her senior campaign, she averaged 16.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Tiffany led the OK-Blue Conference in total points scored (338). She was voted 1&lt;SUP&gt;st&lt;/SUP&gt; Team All-Conference and 1&lt;SUP&gt;st&lt;/SUP&gt; Team Advance All-Area North both her junior and senior years.&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;div&gt;Cardinals Head Coach Andrea Gorski sees a bright future for Tiffany in the Concordia program. She stated &quot;Tiffany is the type of player that we love. She is very versatile in that she can play both inside and out and has a great sense of the game. Most importantly, she is ultra- competitive and makes winning and academics a top priority. In its inaugural year the cheer team at Concordia has experienced many compliments for what they have brought to athletic events, in terms of energy and spirit. Kevin has played a big role in the new program with his athleticism and leadership.&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;div&gt;(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia Softball team finished the regular season with a 22-21 overall record and a 6-8 record in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. With the 6-8 record the Cardinals placed 4&lt;SUP&gt;th&lt;/SUP&gt; in the WHAC after holding the tie breaker over Indiana Tech and Cornerstone University. The Cardinals will now play the #5 seed Indiana Tech in the opening round of the conference tournament. The tournament begins on Thursday May 3&lt;SUP&gt;rd&lt;/SUP&gt; at 3pm. All 8 teams will be playing at Bailey Park in Battle Creek Michigan. Bailey Park has a number of softball fields that surrounds the complex so all four games will be going on at once. Following the 3pm game all 8 teams will play again at 6pm as the tournament is a double elimination tourney.&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;div&gt;The Cardinals split the regular season meeting against Indiana Tech winning the first game (8-6) of the double header back on April 21&lt;SUP&gt;st&lt;/SUP&gt; and then falling in game two (3-11). The Cardinals have been very sharp as of late as they are 6-2 in their last 8 games. Good Luck Cards.&lt;/div&gt;</description>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia Cheerleading received intent commitment from Goodrich High School's Emily Thompson. Emily is a four year varsity athlete with many accolades under her belt. Her junior season Emily received 1&lt;SUP&gt;st&lt;/SUP&gt; Team All-District and 2&lt;SUP&gt;nd&lt;/SUP&gt; Team All-Regional honors. Then in her senior year she was named 1&lt;SUP&gt;st&lt;/SUP&gt; Team All-District and 1&lt;SUP&gt;st&lt;/SUP&gt; Team All-Regional her senior year. She was also Goodrich's captain.&lt;/div&gt;
&amp;nbsp;
&lt;div&gt;Coach Edge stated this about Emily, &quot;When I first saw Emily compete as a junior I knew I wanted her to cheer at CUAA. She is skilled in many areas, and I am excited to see her up in the air for Concordia Cheer.&quot;&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;div&gt;Emily's team at Goodrich is a top contender in the State winning back-to-back League Championships, District runner-ups and qualifying for Regional playoffs. Emily, who has also coached cheer, plans to study in the Biology Pre-Physical Therapy Program.&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;div&gt;Concordia Cheer was not finished with their recruiting as they also signed Nicole Whitney from Swan Valley High School. As a three year cheer athlete Nicole has racked up the awards, All-Districts Honorable Mention, 1&lt;SUP&gt;st&lt;/SUP&gt; Team All-Conference, and the Heart of a Cheerleader Award denoted by her team. With the help of Nicole Swan Valley has had much success this year finishing 2&lt;SUP&gt;nd&lt;/SUP&gt; place in their conference.&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;div&gt;Coach Edge remarked &quot;I am excited that in Nicole we not only got another strong base that we needed, but an athlete with a spirit and enthusiasm for cheer matches the rest of the team. I am eager to see Nicole continue to improve and grow as an athlete with our team, especially as we start competing.&quot;&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;div&gt;Nicole, who also performed this past winter in the Capital One Bowl, will be studying art and graphic design when she arrives this fall. In addition to cheer Nicole also lettered in varsity track.&lt;/div&gt;

        <description>&lt;div&gt;(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia Cheerleading is thrilled to announce the signing of Wayne Memorial's Kayla Perdue. A 3 year varsity cheer athlete Kayla was named to the KLAA All-Conference Team and was also a KLAA Scholar Athlete. Furthermore, she was nominated by her team as the Best All-Around Cheerleader.&lt;/div&gt;&amp;nbsp; 
&lt;div&gt;Coach Edge said this about Kayla, &quot;she has been on my radar since her junior year. I am excited to finally have her here at Concordia. She is such a strong all-around cheerleader, and I know she will be a key player as we begin competing.&quot;&lt;/div&gt;&amp;nbsp; 
&lt;div&gt;Kayla has also coached the Westland Meteors Freshmen cheerleaders. Kayla will be studying Education this fall at Concordia.&lt;/div&gt;&amp;nbsp; 
&lt;div&gt;In addition to Kayla Perdue signing with the Lady Cards, Hannah Geluso from Northview High School in Grand Rapids also signed her letter of intent with Concordia's Cheer team. Hannah has been a cheer athlete for 7 years and in her senior year she was nominated most spirited, team motivator, and most improved.&lt;/div&gt;&amp;nbsp; 
&lt;div&gt;Cardinals' Head Coach Kate Edge had this to say about Hannah, &quot;Hannah is such a strong athlete, her basing skills will be an asset to our building program. Also, it is her positive attitude and work ethic that will make her a strong leader as an incoming freshman on the team.&quot;&lt;/div&gt;&amp;nbsp; 
&lt;div&gt;At Northview Hannah's high school team received accolades at camp and for their involvement as Team Spirit winners for the Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure. Like many of her fellow teammates she will be studying Education when she arrives on campus this fall.&lt;/div&gt;
