Incoming athletes for the 2011-12 will need to fill out in its entirety the appropriate forms that will be available soon. Complete forms can be sent directly to the Concordia University Athletic Department, Attention Athletic Trainers.  Reminder: For all physicals to be accepted for next year, athletes must use these forms (which will be posted below when available) and the physicals must be issued after June 1st otherwise they wont be accepted for next year.

Ashly is employed through Medsport, the University of Michigan Health System's sports medicine program; her position includes responsibilities at the sports medicine clinic along with providing coverage to Concordia Athletics. She is a 2005 graduate from Northern Michigan University with a bachelor of science in Athletic Training and she received her master of arts in Exercise Science from Central Michigan University in 2007. While at CMU, she was employed as a graduate assistant athletic trainer and had responsibilities with volleyball and track and field. Additionally, she has previous experience at the high school and intercollegiate athletics levels and has volunteered and traveled with U.S. Women's Soccer.

Megan's primary responsibility is with CUAA Football. She most recently worked at Loyola University Maryland with Women's Basketball. Her prior football experience was with the 2008 Muskegon Big Reds state championship team. She graduated from Central Michigan University in 2008 with a Bachelor's of Science in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training.

 

 

 

VISITING TEAM INFORMATION

 
Concordia University Sports Medicine staff would like to welcome you to Ann Arbor, Michigan. This page was created to assist visiting teams prior to and during their visit to the home of the Cardinals. We hope this information will make your trip planning easier and answer any questions you may have regarding the care and safety of your athletes.
 
A licensed and certified athletic trainer will be in attendance at all home events. The athletic training room will be open at least 90minutes prior to competition.
 
The following athletic training services will be available to your team on the day of competition:
- Use of our facilities for taping and treatments
- Water
- Cups
- Injury ice
- Biohazard bags
- Emergency equipment (AED, splints, crutches)
   
If your team is traveling without an athletic trainer, please:
- Send any taping supplies that your athletic team requires
- Send written instructions if an athlete is in need of specific treatment
   
FOR HOME FOOTBALL EVENTS:
All Home football events will take place at Huron High School
You will be greeted by an Athletic Trainer who will transport any supplies to locker room facilities
There will be a team physician on site at all home football games
There will be EMS on standby
 
The following will be available:

      - injury ice

      - water / cups

-Sideline:

      - Water / Cups

      - Injury Ice

      - Biohazard bags

      - Crutches

      - AED (home team sideline)

      - Splints (home team sideline)

      - "Gator" for transporting athletes off field (home team sideline)

 
Arrangements for heat, e-stim, ultrasound, or treatments at Concordia University's main athletic training room can be made with prior notification
   
If your team is traveling without an athletic trainer, please:

ATHLETIC TRAINING SERVICES

An athletic trainer is a highly educated and skilled allied health care professional. They are nationally certified and state licensed. ATC's (certified athletic trainer) work under the direction/supervision of a licensed physician to provide health care to athletes. An ATC's role is to prevent injuries, recognize and evaluate injuries, manage and treat injuries, and educate and counsel athletes. An ATC provides on-site evaluation and treatment for an injured athlete, immediate first-aid care, follow-up rehabilatation care, and specific conditioning programs for injury prevention.  
Concordia University's certified athletic trainer is contracted through MedSport Sports Medicine Program located in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  MedSport is the home of the University of Michigan Health System's Sports Medicine Program. MedSport was established in 1986, with the vision of Gerald A. O'Connor, MD., a leader in Sports Medicine.
 
MedSport Sports Medicine Program includes Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, Athletic Training Services and the Athletic Performance Center. This program provides services to area athletes at all levels: professional, olympic, elite, collegiate, high school and recreational. We also service the physically active patient population with orthopaedic-related injuries to the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle. Our athletic training services are contracted to 14 area high schools and universities and the USA Hockey National Team Development  Program. Our physicians are team physicians for the University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University and USA Hockey.
