Emily Card - Athletic Trainer
Emily Card is in her first year at Concordia University-Ann Arbor. She most recently worked at Livonia Clarenceville High School, as well as other collegiate and high school institutions. Card is employed through the University of Michigan MedSport and has dual responsibilities at the Sports Medicine clinic along with working at Concordia.
 
  
VISITING TEAM INFORMATION
 
Concordia University Sports Medicine staff would like to welcome you to Ann Arbor, Michigan. This page was created to assist visiting teams prior to and during their visit to the home of the Cardinals. We hope this information will make your trip planning easier and answer any questions you may have regarding the care and safety of your athletes.
 
In the event you have any further questions, please feel free to contact the athletic trainer via email (ecard@med.umich.edu) or phone in the Concordia University Athletic office at (734) 995-7435.
 
The Athletic Trainer will be available to assist you during your visit. The following athletic training services will be available to your team on the day of competition:
 
- Use of our facilities for taping and treatments
- A certified athletic trainer will be in attendance at all home events
 
The following supplies will be provided at home events:
 
- Water
- Cups
- Injury ice
- Biohazard bags
- Emergency equipment (AED, splints, crutches)
 
The Athletic training room will be available at least 90 minutes prior to competition.
 
If your team is traveling without an athletic trainer, please:
 
- Send any taping supplies that your athletic team requires
- Send written instructions if an athlete is in need of specific treatment

ATHLETIC TRAINING SERVICES
 
An athletic trainer is a highly educated and skilled allied health care professional. They are nationally certified and state licensed. ATC's (certified athletic trainer) work under the direction/supervision of a licensed physician to provide health care to athletes. An ATC's role is to prevent injuries, recognize and evaluate injuries, manage and treat injuries, and educate and counsel athletes. An ATC provides on-site evaluation and treatment for an injured athlete, immediate first-aid care, follow-up rehabilatation care, and specific conditioning programs for injury prevention.
 
Concordia University's certified athletic trainer is contracted through MedSport Sports Medicine Program located in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  MedSport is the home of the University of Michigan Health System's Sports Medicine Program. MedSport was established in 1986, with the vision of Gerald A. O'Connor, MD., a leader in Sports Medicine.
 
MedSport Sports Medicine Program includes Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, Athletic Training Services and the Athletic Performance Center. This program provides services to area athletes at all levels: professional, olympic, elite, collegiate, high school and recreational. We also service the physically active patient population with orthopaedic-related injuries to the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle. Our athletic training services are contracted to 14 area high schools and universities and the USA Hockey National Team Development  Program. Our physicians are team physicians for the University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University and USA Hockey.
