Thad Sankey enters his fourth season as the Head Coach of the Women's Basketball team.
The 2015-2016 season was the Cardinals best under Coach Sankey as they recorded a 15-16 record after a six win season the year before. The team featured a Second Team All Conference player (Kari Borowiak) and a All Freshman player (Karlee Morris) as well.
Thad comes to Concordia from his most recent position as the graduate assistant at Concordia University Nebraska. In 2012-13 Coach Sankey helped lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 25-7 record, a berth in the NAIA National Tournament, and a #9 ranking in the NAIA Postseason Poll. The Bulldogs were ranked as high as #1 in the NAIA DII National Poll during the 2012-13 season. Sankey's responsibilities with the Bulldogs included conducting practice and game preparation, national recruiting, basketball operations as well as being the head JV coach.
Sankey graduated from Concordia Nebraska in 2006 with a degree in Secondary Education. He was a member of the Concordia Nebraska men's basketball team from 2002-06, serving as a captain his junior and senior years. With Sankey leading the way the Bulldogs made two trips to the NAIA National Tournament during his career, finishing in the round of eight in 2003, and as national runner-up in 2005.
After his playing career, Sankey was a graduate assistant on the Bulldog men's basketball team during the 2006-07 season. He then went on to coach for five years at Immanuel Lutheran Christian Academy in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Coach Sankey recently completed his graduate degree from Concordia University Nebraska in Education Administration.
Thad and his wife Sarah live in Ann Arbor with their three sons, Eli, Micah, and Benjamin.

Haffey comes to Concordia after spending the previous year helping with local High School and AAU programs, while working for Meritor, Inc. in Troy, MI. Haffey spent 4 years on staff with Wayne State Men's Basketball, in which he played a role in player academics, off-season player workouts, team travel accommodations, video coordination, and oversight of the student managerial staff. While at Wayne, Haffey played a role in multiple all-conference player honors and a GLIAC Championship.
In addition to coaching, Haffey currently operates a youth sports facility out of Taylor, MI.
Haffey holds a B.A. in Business Management from Wayne State University and is currently pursuing a sports management Masters Degree from the University of Michigan.
Kara Carlson is entering her first year of coaching at Concordia.
In the 2016-2017 season Kara was an Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Davenport University where she was also the Head JV Coach.
Kara attended Concordia University-Ann Arbor where she received her bachelor’s degree in Family Life Education in 2016.
Kara is currently studying School Counseling through Concordia Wisconsin University.
