Stephanie Squires enters her first season as the head women's golf coach and comes to Concordia with her own success as a golfer. She won the women's golf club champion at The Bear, Grand Traverse Resort in 2013 and then repeated the feat again in 2015. Squires is not new to the sport winning a junior golf club championship back in 2003.
Squires enjoyed a successful student athlete career at Schoolcraft College where she was a key member of the women's soccer team. She was a captain during the 2005 & 2006 seasons and was nationally recognized by the NJCAA as a second team All-American in 2006.
Director of Athletics, Lonnie Pries believes her leadership and experience will help the Cardinals progress as a program.
"We are very excited about having Stephanie Squires take over our women's golf program. Stephanie is passionate about the game of golf and has a desire to help build our program and help develop our golfers," Pries commented.
Squires professional calling came as a Wealth Management Advisor where she serves as the President and Owner of SCS Capital, LLC. In the community, Squires recently completed Leadership Oakland Class of LOXXV and served on the Schoolcraft College Board of Governors. Squires is also a member of the Detroit Curling Club.
"It is a pleasure to serve as the new head women's golf coach at Concordia," Squires said. "The Athletic Department is vibrant and I am proud to be associated with a strong growing organization. It is an honor to serve under the great leadership of Lonnie Pries and I look forward to watching the continued success and growth of our teams."
A true missional fit for Concordia, Squires has her sights set on growing the women's golf program and enhancing the student athlete experience. "My goal for the Women's Golf program is to make the team as one of the top competitor in the WHAC conference, both individually and whole as a team. We will be emphasizing developing the team into great short game players and continue to build their confidence both on and off the course."
