Murali Nair Image
Murali Nair - Head Coach - 4th Season
Dr. Murali Nair returns for his fourth season at the helm of the Concordia University men's soccer program. Nair has severely changed the culture and success of the Cardinals as they have had the most success the program has had  in many seasons. With much of the team returning for the 20011 season, there is great optimism on campus for a rejuvenated Cardinal program.
 
Prior to coming to Concordia, Nair served as the Eastern Michigan University Head Club Soccer Coach with a stint as the Ypsilanti High School coach prior to his time overseeing the Eagle program.
 
In addition to leading the club team at Eastern Michigan University, Nair has served as a professor and program coordinator for EMU since 2001.  He currently serves as an Associate Professor and the Director of the School of Health Promotion and Human Performance; a position that he has held since June of 2005.
 
Nair brings over twenty years of soccer experience to his new position with the Cardinals.  He served as the head coach of the Malaysian National under 23 team for seven years before traveling to the University of Virginia where Nair earned his Ph.d. in motor learning.  While in Charlottesville, Virginia Nair coached an under 19 travel express team from 1996-2000. 
 
While in Michigan, Murali Nair coached the Ann Arbor Arsenal under 13 premier team and also served at Ypsilanti High School serving as the head men's soccer coach for the Braves for three seasons.  Nair earned three degrees from the University of Malaya in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia between the years of 1978 and 1990 before arriving in the United States.
   
                      
David Hosey Image
David Hosey - Assistant Coach - 4th Season
David Hosey brings a wealth of experience and success as he is working diligently to assist Murali Nair in reshaping the Concordia men's soccer team.
 
Entering his fourth season, Hosey has already placed his mark on the program as the Cardinals are gearing for a move up the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference standings.
 
Prior to coming to Concordia, Hosey served as the Director of Coaching with the CW3 Soccer Club, as well as being the Academy Director and Trainer for the program.
 
Hosey, who holds a National FIFA license, also was head coach of Premier teams in the MPSL for CW3 and the Lakes Area Soccer Association. Hosey has also served as a trainer for several high schools in the Ann Arbor area.
 
His experience doesn't just come from coaching, as Hosey was an accomplished player having played on the Michigan State University squad as a collegian as well as being a member of the Michigan Wolves, Michigan Marauders, Canton Celtics and the Livonia Bullets. During his time with the Bullets, Hosey enjoyed three state championships (2001, 2002, 2004) as well as a national championship in 2006.
Erik Schultz Image
Erik Schultz - Assistant Coach - 2nd Season

Erik is originally from Lansing Michigan which is where he started his playing and coaching career.

Erik was a four year starter in High School earning multiple honors including being named to the All-State Team and being his team's MVP.

Erik played 4 years for the Concordia Men's soccer team, serving as a captain for 3 out of the 4 years, Erik was also named to the WHAC All-Conference team for both his junior and senior seasons at Concordia.

Erik has his MSYSA National "D" coaching license and has helped coach several club teams including the Phoenix Soccer Club and MPSA.

This is Erik's second year coaching at Concordia; he brings a vast amount of experience and knowledge with him which he hopes he can pass on to the Cards this season.

Steve Shelton Image
Steve Shelton - Assistant Coach - 1st Season

Steve Shelton started playing competitive soccer with the Grosse Ile Islanders soccer team, until he moved with his family to Melbourne, Australia. There Steve played for Old Scotch Waverly Soccer Club as well as being a 2 year member of the Trinity Grammar School 1st team. Upon moving back to Grosse Ile Shelton played his final 2 years at Grosse Ile High School. He was also a member of the 2002 state championship team and the 2003 team that was ranked #13 in the country. During this period the team had a 46 game winning streak and a 0.18 goals against average. Steve was also a member of the all-league, all-district, all-area, all-region, and all-state teams, and currently holds the school's record for the most assists in a season (27), most goals in a career (52), and most goals in a game (5). Steve then went on to play at Kalamazoo College.

Steve started his coaching career at Grosse Ile High School with the Junior Varsity program and eventually took over the Varsity Squad. While at Grosse Ile the team won 2 district championships and a Huron League championship. In addition to this Steve was voted district and area coach of the year (2009, 2010) and league coach of the year (2010). Steve was also an assistant coach with the TKO soccer club in Kalamazoo. Steve currently holds his 'D' coaching license.

Steve is a graduated from Western Michigan University with a BA in public policy, and is currently working on a Masters of Public Administration degree at Western Michigan University.
