(August 28, 2010 Canton, OH) -- Day 2 of the Malone Invitational Tournament saw the Lady Cards lose to Grace College in straight sets losing 20-25, 18-25, and 23-25. The Lady Cards came out fast but Grace's size at the net was too much for the Cards to overcome and handle. Shannon Murphy (Linden, MI) played exceptionally strong at the net with 2 total blocks and a hitting percentage of .444%. Leading the way for the Cardinals was Junior Ashley Hart (Birmingham, MI-Marian) with 11 kills and Sophomore Hannah Shiff (Ann Arbor, MI-Pioneer) with 13 digs. Junior Jaymee Wise (Irvine, CA) had 30 assists for the Cards.
Concordia bounced back in its second match against Bluefield College, WV. The Cards put together a complete game against the Rams and returned to form. The Lady Cards won in 4 games winning 25-11, 22-25, 25-19, and 25-20. The Cardinals dominated in all facets in their last match. They controlled the net having 8 blocks and 53 kills which was a season high. Ashley Hart lead the attack with 19 kills. Jaymee Wise had a season high with 50 assists. Hannah Shiff controlled the back row with 18 digs and 4 aces, and Danielle Guss had her second double double of the year recording 12 kills and 22 digs. The Cardinals look to build upon the success and take it to the Concordia Invitational Volleyball Tournament next weekend at Concordia Wisconsin.
