(Ann Arbor, MI)-Concordia University is proud to announce
the signing of Askia Bennett from New Orleans, LA. Askia comes to Concordia from Lutheran High
School in Metairie, LA. It has been a
difficult ride for Askia and his teammates after having been displace by
Hurricane Katrina. The Gryphons have
overcome a lot of adversity over the past few seasons. It is exactly this attitude of triumph that
Askia will bring to the Concordia family.
Askia was named the MVP for the Gryphons over the past two
seasons. He was also voted 1st
team All-District as well as the Most Improved Baseball player for Lutheran
High as well. Askia's accomplishments
don't stop on the athletic field however. He was named the recipient of the 4H Leadership Service Award, was given
Academic Honors from the University of New Orleans, voted Mr. Lutheran High in
2010 and was also voted Most Popular by his classmates as well. Askia will be playing offense for the
Cardinals and will be asked to use his athleticism to play Wide Receiver.
