Concordia Baseball helps out the Community
Several former and current members of the Concordia University baseball team united together to help run a youth practice last week in Saline. Interim Head Coach Ryan McCosky spent his summer coaching the Michigan Sports Academy 16U team and was delighted at the response he got when he asked current and former players to help out at his practice, "I have had the opportunity to coach some of these Concordia guys for years and have really enjoyed watching them mature and raise the bar for future members of Concordia Baseball on and off the field". The Cardinal players took time to meet with the kids individually sharing some pointers on all aspects of the game and answer any questions the kids had about playing college baseball. Some of the players that helped out were former Cardinals Zach Johnston and Tony Pounders and current Cardinal Andrew Jacinto to name a few. The evening concluded with a batting practice session that highlighted the former Cardinals showing they still can swing it. Coach McCosky said, "My 16U team had a rough year and for the kids to see these college guys as role models and to see how much fun you can have while playing this game was just a great way to end the season."
