(April 18, 2010 - Ypsilanti, Mich.) -- Competing against the who's who of collegiate track and field in the state of Michigan, the Concordia Cardinals faired exceptionally well in the two-day Eastern Michigan Twilight Invitational. Maxime Joseph set a school record in the outdoor triple jump, finishing second overall, while four teammates set personal records in their respective events. All-in-all, the Cards took great strides forward in preparation for the upcoming WHAC Championships after the best team showing in the past two seasons.

On Friday, despite the 20 mile an hour per winds, the weather was cold but the sun was shining bright. As were several Cards.

Maxime Joseph and borther Bernard both participated in the men's long jump with the duo finishing in 13th and 14th overall, respectively. Maxime had a distance of 20'3" (6.17 meters), with Bernard finishing just behind at 19'8.25" (6.00 meters).

Jim Abrams was a mere 1.5 seconds off of the school record in the men's 1500-meter race, as he cross at 4:11.54, which earned him a 28th place finish overall. Three other Cards ran in that evening's race with Will Cantrell establishing a personal record at 4:26.36 (48th overall), while Ryan Burmeister (4:34.27 - 51st) and Tyler Case (4:39.14 - 54th place) also finished well.

The final male competitor of the day was Rocko Holmes, who had a distance of 35'1" (10.69 meters) in the men's shot put to finish 17th overall.

On the women's side, Adora Morrow was the lone competitor for Concordia as she finished with a top-ten finish in the women's long jump. With a distance of 14'8" (4.47 meters), Morrow grabbed hold of the 10th place spot overall.

While the temperatures cooled even further on Saturday, the Cardinals showed that Friday they were just warming up as the second day of the event they were red hot.

Maxime Joseph came out and set a new school record in the men's outdoor triple jump with a distance of 43'8" (13.31 meters) and finished an astounding second overall. Bernard Joseph was equally strong in the event with a personal record of 41'1" (12.52 meters), earning himself a fourth place finish.

A trio of Cards ran in the men's 800-meter race, with two setting new standards for themselves. Jim Abrams was the first two cross, just missing a new school record for the second day. This time the difference was only one second as he crossed at 2:00.22, a new personal record and an 11th place finish. Will Cantrell had a second personal record in as many days and events, as his time of 2:06.59 earned him a 29th place finish, while Ryan Burmeister crossed at 2:15.48, finishing 39th overall.

Jordan Muschiama took part in a new event for Concordia, and showed that the javelin throw may be an area of strength for him. With a distance of 124'0" (37.81 meters), Muschiama finished eighth overall in the event.

Rounding out the male competitors was Morgan Schwab and the discus throw, there his distance of 91'4" (28.83 meters) was good enough for 14th place overall.

On the women's side were Adora Morrow and two sprints and Chloe Metcalf, who joined Muschiama in the javelin as well as running in the 100-meter dash with Morrow.

Metcalf's throw in the javelin set a new personal record at 79'2" (27.12 meters) earning her a top-ten finish with the ninth spot overall. Running later in the 100-meter dash, Metcalf was 26th overall with a time of 14.53, just behind Morrow. With her time of 13.62, Morrow would finish 20th overall in the 100-meter while crossing at 27.79 a bit later in the 200-meter to finish 24th overall.

The Cardinals have one more event before the WHAC CHampionships as they head to Grand Rapids on April 24 to participate in the Aquinas Open.
