(Feb. 20, 2010 - Livonia, Mich.) -- The Concordia women's basketball team was looking to secure a top-three finish with a win on Saturday. After trailing by as much as 10-points in the second-half, the Cardinals put together a furious rally outscoring Madonna 15-6 in nearly seven minutes to pull within a point before the Crusaders held on for a 60-57 victory putting the Cards playoff positioning in question.

Concordia had trouble scoring all afternoon hitting only 24 percent of their attempts from the field and an abysmal nine percent from beyond the three-point arc. Fortunately, Madonna wasn't much better but the Crusaders were good enough to earn the victory, albeit narrowly.

Hannah Sabol (Fr. - Shelby Twp., Mich.) finished the regular season with her 12th double-double with a dozen points and 14 rebounds before fouling out.

Elyse Schlump (Jr. - Cedar Springs, Mich.) lead the Cardinal scoring effort with 15 points, as well as four rebounds, but was quieted for the stretch run after picking up a foul and a subsequent technical after voicing her displeasure with the officiating.

Concordia also picked up a strong overall outing from Kortni Elsworth (So. - Goodrich, Mich.), who had 14 points and eight rebounds with three assists.

Shantelle Herring lead Madonna with 10 points and five rebounds, while Tabatha Wydryck had 14 rebounds with eight points and Kaylee McGrath just missed a double-double as she had nine points and nine rebounds.

Concordia (18-12, 8-6 WHAC) had their six-game winning streak snapped and finished the regular season with the second-most wins in program history and the first winning record in the WHAC ever. But the next step is very much in question as three teams tied for third technically in the standings as the Cards, Madonna and Cornerstone all finished with 8-6 marks. The specific tie-breakers to settle the matter have raised as many questions as answers so where and whom the Cardinals will play in the opening round has yet to be officially determined. The possibilities include a home game against either Cornerstone or Siena Heights or a road game at Cornerstone.
