(Feb. 20, 2010 - Angola, Ind.) -- On the team's final event of the indoor season, Max Joseph saved his best jump as he obliterated the old Concordia record in the men's long jump while also winning the event in the WHAC Championships to earn All-Conference status. Joseph, who jumped 13.25-meters (or 43'5.75") was only one of two jumpers to pass 13 meters, while besting the previous mark that was held for nine years. Other Cardinals set personal bests as the focus will now shift to the upcoming outdoor season.

Will Cantrell and Ryan Burmeister represented Concordia in the men's one-mile run, with Cantrell's time of 4:49.75 being a personal best as he finished in 12th overall. Burmeister was a few spots behind as he finished 15th overall in the event with a time of 5:13.78. Joey Snellink of Davenport was the winner in the event as he was at least a second better then the nearest competitor as he finished at 4:18.53, while Cornerstone's Zach Ripley finished second at 4:19.68. Dustin Heiler of Aquinas was third.

Cantrell would come back later and set another personal best, this time in the 800-meter run, as his time of 2:10.64 was good enough for 11th overall. Siena Heights had the top two runners with Jesiah Rodriguez winning the event with a time of 1:59.66 - the lone under two-minute time - with Zachary Phillips finish at 2:00.35.

Jordan Muschiama was the lone Card in the men's 60-meter hurdles, and with a distance of 10.09 in the preliminaries finished 10th overall. Chris Brautzsch of Indiana Tech was able to improve his time in the finals from the preliminaries, while teammate Russell Dill was a tad slower, and the 1-2 tandem in the preliminaries flipped in the finals with Brautzsch taking home first with Dill falling to second.

Martell Buchanan represented Concordia in the men's 600-meter run and finished the race with a time of 1:26.21, which was good enough for seventh overall. Zach Yeo of Cornerstone was the winner witha  time of 1:22.79, with two Aquinas Saints finishing second and third: Nick Thelen (1:23.60) and Kolin Stickney (1:23.91).

Ashley Hart participated in three events on the day, the first being the 60-meter dash where her time of 8.81 in the preliminaries earned her a 15th place finish. Allison Strouse of Aquinas, who finished second in the prelims, improved greatly in the finals to win the event while Ariel Strouse of Davenport was slightly better the second go-around, but dropped to second place in the finals. Adella King was third - both in the preliminaries and the finals.

Hart would come back later in the 200-meter dash and finish with a time of 29.95 in the finals to finish 20th overall. Allison Strouse of Aquinas, who set the meet record a year ago at 25.39, would be slightly slower this year, but was still good enough at 25.50 to finish first. Two Warriors of Indiana Tech would finish 2-3 as Adella King ran in 25.73 while Emaryne Watt finished at 25.86.

Hart's day would conclude with the long jump where she landed a 4.53-meters, which was good for seventh overall, and set a personal best for her in the event. Davenport's Jess Roodvoets jumped a distance of 5.40-meters to finish first with Cornerstone taking 2-3 as Kay-De Vaugh was second at 5.37-meters and Kayla Wilson third at 5.26-meters.

Dorian Lancaster had a two-event day with the 60-meter dash being the first. Lancaster fell out of the starting blocks, and finished with a time of 7.57 in the preliminaries leaving him in 17th place overall. Rumeal McKinney of Aquinas won the final, as he did the preliminaries, while Blake Garvey and Matt Hewson (both of Aquinas also) were 2-3 in the finals.

Lancaster's second event was the long jump where he finished eighth overall with a distance of 6.34-meters. Two Saints of Siena Heights took the top honors as Ryan Hopson's distance of 7.07-meters just edged out teammate Erving Warren's 7.03-meters. Dustin Johnson of Aquinas was third at 6.68-meters.

And then came Max Joseph and the triple jump. Jairo Calvo of Aquinas was well ahead of any other competitor as he was the lone jumper to cross the 13-meter threshold with his leap of 13.22. Kylen Bradlye was closest at 12.75 but well behind Calvo. Joseph had a little more today as he landed at 13.25-meters, setting the school record which was set in 2001 when Rick Behm had a jump of 12.12-meters. Joseph earned his first All-Conference accolade for his effort.

The Cardinal men were able to pick up 10 points in the team scoring which is the first-time since the sport was re-instituted that the Concordia track team scored in the team portion.
