(Oct. 3, 2009 - Lansing, Mich.) -- With injuries taking it's toll on the men's cross country team, the Concordia Cardinals could only field four runners Saturday afternoon at the Lansing Community College Invite. Jim Abrams had a strong afternoon nonetheless as the soophomore finished 20th overall with a time of 27:19, which is a career-best for the second-year runner. Ryan Burmerster registered a career-best time with Samuel Bruer picking up his best time of the season as well for the Cardinals.
Nathan Martin took home the individual honor for Spring Arbor University as he finished at 25:10, nine seconds ahead of his closest foe in Addis Habtewold of LCC, whose hosts Stars took home the team title with four runners placing into the top 10 on the day.
In addition to Abrams personal best time, Burmeister also set a new low for himself with his time of 29:34, which earned him a 96th-place overall finish.
Will Cantrell finished in 119th with his time of 30:39, with Bruer and his season-low time of 32:18 earning the 130th spot overall.
Concordia has three meets remaining with the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships up next on Oct. 10.
