(Sept. 12, 2009 - Adrian, Mich.) -- Jordan Marken, a freshman from Dexter, had his strongest outing in his early collegiate career as he shot a three-over par 74 Saturday afternoon at the Lenawee Country Club as the Concordia Cardinals participated in the third WHAC Jamboree hosted by Siena Heights. Marken was nearly matched by sophomore Sean Webb, whose 79 was also a career best, as he finished eight strokes over par for 29th overall.

The Cardinals are putting up a valiant effort in trying to accomplish something the program has never done in its five-year existence: escape the cellar in conference play. While the results have been the same on the surface, in years past the gap was sometimes were nearly halfway to the century mark whereas now Concordia is closer to single digits and with continued improvement can legitimately eye a move up the standings.

While Marken and Webb had strong outings, the Cards had four golfers finish within five strokes of each other between 87 and 92. Kyle Barlow was the third Cardinal to finish with his 16-over 87, which was good for 38th; just edging Nate Hand by a single stroke. Three strokes behind Hand was Brad Girling, who shot a 20-over 91, just one stroke ahead of Tyler Schlitzkus.

Tommy Lucko of Madonna won his second jamboree as he tied with Cornerstone's Ryan Zwier as the only two under par golfers with a pair of 71 scores.

In the end it was Zwier's Golden Eagles that would edge their way to a team title as Cornerstone shot a 291 overall, one stroke ahead of both Davenport and Madonna.

The next jamboree is a mere four days away, meaning the conference schools will have played their first four tournaments within an eight-day span. Jamboree #4 is slated for Highlands Country Club in Grand Rapids, hosted by Aquinas College, on Sept. 16.
