(Sept. 3, 2009 - Grand Rapids, Mich.) -- Playing for the first time as a fully-recognized squad in a conference jamboree, the Concordia women's golf team came out and had an impressive first start being the youngest team in the field as they finished fifth overall at Quail Ridge Golf Course in Grand Rapids. Sophomore Kylie Golden lead the way with a 99, just edging freshman Berlynn Beaver by one stroke.

The Cardinals finished 13 strokes ahead of the host-Golden Eagles of Cornerstone University as well as Siena Heights, who didn't register a team score when one of their golfers failed to finish.

In addition to Golden and Beave, Concordia picked up great efforts from Brittany Villa, who shot a 105 (which earned her a 33rd overall finish) and Elyse Schlump, who scored a 117 on the par 72 course.

The individual championship was earned by Michelle Hall of Madonna, who shot an 83, to barely edge two of her Crusader teammates - Chelsea Bathurst and Sara Simnitch - who eached finished with a score of 84. With the top three finishers, it was no wonder that Madonna took home the team title as well, beating Indiana Tech by 12 strokes.

The Cardinals will be off for over two weeks as their next time out on the links won't be until September 18 when the team heads south to Indiana Tech for the second WHAC jamboree at Whispering Creek Golf Course in Ft. Wayne.
