New Card Will Cantrell
(May 20, 2009 - Ann Arbor, Mich.) -- Three Cardinal programs were boosted by the signing of one name this past week as Garry "Will" Cantrell of Oakland Community College agreed to run for the Concordia cross country team, as well as botht he indoor and outdoor track and field teams. Cantrell graduated from West Bloomfield High School in 2007 and has been on the OCC programs, as well as the team's half-marathon squad, since.
A solid student, Cantrell ran in both the national championships for cross country and the half-marathon in 2008. During his prep years, Cantrell ran mid-distance all four years as well as playing on the school's football team.
"Will is going to fit into our program as a contributor from day one," said Steve Montgomery, head coach for the running programs at Concordia. "We are very excited to have Will on our team."
Will is the son of Margarat and Steve Cantrell and has one brother who is currently deployed in Iraq serving the United States Army. The Cantrell's attend worship at the West Bloomfield United Methodist Church.
