After a last place conference finish a year ago in which they only managed to win a single WHAC game, the improved Concordia softball team enters this week with a 3-11 conference record and three games ahead of the last place Saints from Siena Heights. The Cardinals will look for the series sweep against the Saints when they close out the series tomorrow at Cardinal Field. Concordia won both games of the series opener on April 1 by scores of 10-0 and 10-1.
A fifth placeconference spot is in sight for the Cardinals as two other teams, Davenport and Cornerstone, each have three wins as well. While Concordia lost both games to Cornerstone on April 4 at Cardinal Field, they were able to salvage a split against Davenport winning the second game last Friday 4-3. Jeni Bollenbacher (Fr - Edwardsburg, Mich) recorded the win and is 6-14 on the season.
Katie Gallan ( LaSalle, Mich) is leading the Cardinals at the plate batting .384 in 30 game appearances. Additionally the sophomore is leading the WHAC with nine stolen bases in conference play. Georgia Dewey (Jr - Marine City, Mich) leads the team in RBI's with 19.
