(March 10, 2009 - Ann Arbor, Mich.) -- The Concordia men's basketball team is pleased to announce that two of the program's top recruits have given head coach Ben Limback their commitment to join the program beginning this coming fall. Local standout Ryan Walton of Ypsilanti Lincoln High School is joined by guard Tyler Gray of Frankenmuth High School as the newest members of the Cardinal program.

Walton is a 6'4 win player who after averaging 16 points per game was named All-Area recently, while being rated as the #25 wing/forward according to the well-respected Bank Hoops publication. Walton is also a member of the AAU program the Michigan Mavericks.

"Ryan has tremendous athleticism to go along with a college-ready body," said Limback. "He has the potential to make an impact right away as he can score in a variety of ways and seems to always be around the basketball. Most important, he has solid character and comes from a great family."

Walton's mother is a Concordia graduate.

Gray, also an AAU player from the Camp Darryl Basketball Academy, averaged 18 points per game this past season as a guard at Frankenmuth.

"Tyler is a lights-out three-point shooter who has hit a number of big shots this year," said Limback of the 6'0 guard. "Tyler comes from a program with a winning tradition and he understands what it takes to compete at a high level. He possesses strong Christian values and morals instilled by his parents, which make him a success on and off the court."

Gray was a teammate of the 2008 Michigan Mr. Basketball, Brad Redford, at Frankenmuth.
