Head Coach Justin Martin

(March 9, 2009 - Ann Arbor, Mich.) -- After a lengthy and thorough search, Ben Limback - the Concordia Director of Athletics - determined the best candidate to replace Dan Kirchhoff as head volleyball coach was the man sitting next to Kirchhoff the last two seasons as Justin Martin has been named the new Cardinal head coach.

Martin has been with the Cardinal program for the last two seasons and is no stranger to the volleyball scene in the Ann Arbor-area as he previously served as the captain and coach of the Eastern Michigan men's volleyball team for two seasons as well as leading the Junior Olympic 18U team from the Huron Valley Volleyball Club for two years.

Additionally, Martin was the captain and coach of the men's volleyball program at Dartmouth. Martin served in that role for three seasons.

Limback believes the passion Martin has for the game of volleyball and his dedication to the Concordia program were two of the many attributes that separated him from the pack.

"I am thrilled to see Justin make the transition to be our new head volleyball coach," Limback said. "While an assistant coach, we all have enjoyed working with Justin the past two years. He is a team player and has strong drive to succeed. As he continues to bring in quality young ladies, the future is bright for Concordia volleyball."
Martin himself has set goals of making the Cardinal program relevant again in the volleyball community with a long-term goal of challenging for a conference championship in the very competitive Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference also high on his list of desired accomplishments.
"Our plan is to host a playoff game in the near future and never look back," said Martin.
