(November 6, 2008 - Ann Arbor, Mich) -- The short-handed Cardinals, playing in their final game of the 2008 campaign, lost to a determined Indiana Tech team at Rummel Field on Thursday afternoon. The 3-2 loss ends a season in which the team played to a 4-8-3 overall record and a 1-8-3 conference tally.
The Cardinals would tie the game on a successful penalty kick by Cardinal sophomore Abby Lorion with less than ten minutes to go in the half. The goal would be the 10th of the season for Lorion which ties her goal total from a year ago.
The game would remain tied until three minutes into the second half when the Warrior's Ashley Mejia would take advantage of a Danielle Luther pass and fire a shot over Zuccarell's head.
Concordia's deficit didn't last long. The home team would tie the game less than two minutes later when Sarah McLaren (Sr. - Newport News, Virg) knocked in a Lauren Harris (So. - Ypsilanti, Mich) rebound to score her first goal of the season.
The Warriors would score the winning goal three minutes later on an Ashley Mejia shot that came off a rebound from a shot by teammate Christina Will. From this point, the game grew increasingly physical as four yellow cards would be handed out during the last fifteen minutes of the contest.
Hoping to create more scoring opportunities, Concordia coach Piotr Westwalewicz moved Zuccarell back to her regular midfield position and inserted Brianna Sonnenberg (So. - Sawyer, Mich) in net. The move failed to provide any scoring for the Warriors went on to win their first conference game of the season.
