(October 29, 2008 - Ann Arbor, Mich) -- Coming off their second win of the season on Saturday against Holy Cross College, the Cardinals were hoping for their first conference win of the season against Cornerstone. After tying the Golden Eagles 1-1 on the road, Concordia was looking to improve upon that effort and pick up their first back-to-back wins since they team won three in a row in 1997.

While the scoring chances were few and far between for both teams, Cornerstone wasted little time getting on the scoreboard when just two minutes into the game they were able to capitalize on a Nathan Wood goal that was assisted by Zack McCabe. The assist came off the rebound from a Brian Kressbach (Jr. - Clinton Twp., Mich) save that found its way in front of McCabe.

The Golden Eagles (3-6-2, 5-10-2) would score one more time in the first half at the 34:17 mark off a Matt Kunnen shot that found the bottom left corner of the net. McCabe once again provided the helper.

The Cardinals (0-8-2, 2-8-3) best scoring chance came with 20 minutes left in the half when Ali Badra (So. - Niamey, Niger) was denied on a timely setup pass from Erik Schultz (Jr. - Belleville, Mich). Unable to convert on the scoring chance, the Cardinals took a 2-0 deficit into halftime.

The second half was much of the same as both teams continued with their aggressive play and Cornerstone controlling the time of possession. The score would remain 2-0 until the 76:44 mark when the Golden Eagles David Deboer scored off a corner kick from teammate Jordan O'Brien.

The Cardinals will look for that elusive WHAC victory on Senior Day when they host Aquinas on Saturday at Rummel Field at 2:30. The Saints won the first meeting of the season 4-0 on October 4.
