(September 24, 2008 - Ann Arbor, MI) -- The Concordia men's soccer team struggled once again against a conference opponent, losing Wednesday afternoon at Rummel Field to Siena Heights 4-0. The loss leaves the team winless in three games this season, all to conference opponents.
The score remained 1-0 until an unassisted goal by the Saint's Joe Deneweth. Less than a minute later, Siena Heights junior forward Joel Parrish would capitalize on a Cardinal goalkeeping error to score his fourth goal of the season.
The visitors erased any doubts on who would claim the victory with their fourth goal just a few minutes into the second half. Freshman Shane Patterson fired an uncontested shot from 35 yards out to seal the game.
Cardinal keeper Brian Kressbach stopped six shots for the game, while the Siena Heights keepers Andy Klenner and George Suidan stopped one each.
Concordia will look to get on the winning track on September 29, when they play a non-conference match against Rochester. The game will be held at Rummel Field at 4:00 p.m. Last year, the Cardinals lost to the Warriors 1-0 to open their season. All told, the Cardinals winless streak now extends to 61 straight.
