(September 20, 2008 - Fort Wayne, IN) -- The Concordia women's soccer team, coming off a 4-1 conference opening loss to Madonna, had to settle for a tie on the road Saturday afternoon against Indiana Tech, snapping a three-game conference losing streak dating back to last season.
Concordia senior keeper Kelly Wurzell (Lambertville, MI) tallied eight saves to increase her career shutout total to 16. The game also marked Wurzell's third shutout in four games this season, and pulls her within a pair of tying her own season record of five whitewashes in a season.
Indiana Tech goalkeeper Mallory Xurvein also saved eight shots to record a shutout, as well. The Cardinals only totaled seven shots on goal during regulation. Their chances were even less in the two overtime periods when the visitors from Ann Arbor were only able to rally for one solid scoring chance.
Concordia will look to get back on the winning track on Tuesday when they host conference opponent Siena Heights at 4:00 p.m. Last season, the Cards were shutout in both games against the Saints, falling 5-0 and 1-0.
