Freshman Jim Abrams
(September 6, 2008 - Northville, Mich.) -- The one thing coaches look for each week is a better effort and improved performance than the week prior. Concordia cross country coach Steve Montgomery is seeing those goals come to fruition after his runners improved their times this week at the Running Fit/Detroit Titan Invitational at Cass-Benton Park in Northville. The Cardinals finished 11th as a team with Jim Abrams (Fr. - Monroe, Mich.) finishing first for the team with a time of 23:02, 3:03 off the lead.
With a field of 141 runners, the remaining Cardinal harriers finished respectably as well with Tyler Case (So. - Cedar Springs, Mich.) being the second runner to cross the line as he did so at 24:00 for a 104th place finish. Just 28 seconds behind Case, was Michael Haiderer (Sr. - Saginaw, Mich.) at 24:28 (108th) with Ryan Burmeister (Fr. - Muskegon, Mich.) finishing a half-dozen seconds later at 23:34 (109th).
Rounding out the field for Concordia was Philip Brown at 25:18 (116th) and Samuel Bruer at 26:00 (119th).
The Cardinals will be back in action next Saturday with a trip to the Mel Brodt Invitational at Bowling Green University.
