Concordia Baseball
(July 30, 2008 - Ann Arbor, Mich.) -- The Concordia baseball team will be hosting their 1st Annual Golf Outing on August 11 at the Polo Fields Country and Golf Club as not only a kickoff to their fundraising activities for the coming season but also as their awards banquet for last season's record-breaking year.
There will be a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. with a lunch and dinner provided in additition to the 18 holes of golf with cart. The cost per person is $150, with portions of the donation being a tax deduction.
During the dinner, a silent auction will be conducted with numerous pieces of sports memoriabilia as well as some fine jewelry, wine and various other items.
"This event is not just for our current squad, as we'd love to have as many former players as possible join us," head coach Karl Kling said. "In fact, we sent out a mailing to as many players as we had an address for, but unfortunately many were returned. So our next order of business is to get an accurate mailing list of former Cardinals."
There are still spots left for the outing, so anyone interested in participating can call Coach Kling at (734) 995-7344, email him at klingk@cuaa.edu or download a copy of the brochure and mail it in.
In addition to the outing, the night will allow the team to honor the accomplishments of the various players who earned special distinctions throughout the season as well as the team awards to be presented by Coach Kling.
"We had many players who accomplished special things last year, in particular our great senior class," Kling said. "This is our time to say thank you to all they have done for the program, as well as honor the deserving returning players and get this incoming squad ready to go in 2009."
