Coming off a record setting season the Cardinal women will have to replace several major contributors to continue their success and move up the ranks in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference.  The addition of Elyse Schlump will without question help the Cardinals towards this goal.  "Elyse is going to be a major difference maker for us and we are very excited about her potential with us," said head coach Joshua Steffen, "she will give us an immediate inside presence and give our offense a dimension we haven't had in the past."

Schlump competed in high school for the Red Hawks of Cedar Springs and coach Autumn Mattson where she was a member of the all-conference and all-area teams on multiple occasions.  Steffen continued, "Elyse was someone we followed very closely in high school and with a year of college experience under her belt she has continued to improve and will continue to improve through her career at Concordia."  Schlump averaged over 16 points per game at Cedar Springs, "Elyse is a great finisher around the basket but also shoots her jump shot very well," said Steffen, "I'm hopeful that our team will be very difficult to guard next season."

Elyse is the daughter of Dave and Teresa Schlump and has two brothers, Josh and Daniel.  Dave Schlump has had a long career as a high school basketball coach in the state of Michigan and is currently a member of the men's basketball coaching staff at Ferris State University.  "We are very excited about Elyse's upcoming career on and off of the court at Concordia," continued Steffen, "thanks to the Schlump family for helping Elyse choose Concordia!"
