(April 1, 2008 - Ann Arbor, Mich.) -- To continue the success and improvement of the 2007-2008 season the Concordia University women's basketball program will have to replace several seniors who played important roles. The Cardinals took a large step in that direction with the signing of Deanna Doede of Delta College.
Cardinal head coach Joshua Steffen knew he would need to replace a large percentage of the teams offense heading into the 2008-2009 campaign and he hopes Doede will be a major contributor for Concordia, "Deanna is a versatlie player who really excels as a scorer and finds different ways to score and help her team" said Steffen, "she also passes very, very well and makes her teammates better."
This year Doede averaged 13.2 points per game and 7 rebounds per game at Delta College for coach Kelly Miller. Before attending Delta, Doede was a standout for Bay City Central High School in Bay City, Michigan. "Deanna was someone we targeted out of high school, now that she has added two years of college experience in a great program we are thrilled she is going to be part of our team," added Steffen.
Doede was named third team all MCCAA Eastern Conference for her accomplishments during her sophomore season at Delta. The Cardinals will look to build of the success of this year's 14 win campaign which was the fourth best season in program history and the best since the 1989-90 season.
