(March 25, 2008 - Ann Arbor, Mich.) -- One thing has been consistent this season for the Concordia baseball team: change. Each day brings another challenge because of the weather in the area and this week has been no different for the Cardinals, a team that has yet to play or practice on their own field. With weather forcing the team to change their plans, the Cardinals will head south to Ohio for two days to play a pair of doubleheaders, as well as changing their schedule for the conference opener this weekend against Indiana Tech.
On Wednesday, Concordia's originally scheduled single home game against Urbana as been changed to a doubleheader between the two teams at the Athletes in Action facility in Xenia, Ohio. The first game will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Concordia serving as the home team for both games.
The Cardinals will stay overnight in the dorms at the facility and will play host to Notre Dame College on Thursday morning for a pair of games. The first game will begin at 11:00 a.m. between the Falcons and Concordia, who will be the home team for both games as well.
This coming Saturday, Concordia was to open the 2008 WHAC schedule with a doubleheader against Indiana Tech, before traveling to Ft. Wayne to play the Warriors on Sunday in another pair of games. The condition of Cardinal Field is forcing the two teams to play all four games in Ft. Wayne over the weekend, with the teams changing their April 16 doubleheader from Ft. Wayne to Ann Arbor.
Drew Linder (Sr. - Bellevue, Ohio) and Justin Gauthier (Sr. - Muskegon, Mich.) will take to the hill on Wednesday night against Urbana, as well as Sunday afternoon against Tech. Ryan Stromer (Jr. - Ovid, Mich.) and Brad Roettger (Fr. - Sterling Heights, Mich.) will be the starting pitchers on Thursday against Notre Dame College, with Brent McNeil (So. - Springboro, Ohio) and Ryan Burzycki (Sr. - New Boston, Mich.) taking to the bump in the conference openers Saturday against the Warriors.
