Kara Youngs has been a staple in the Belding High School athletic program over the last four years as she has competed in volleyball, basketball and softball. She has been a four year varsity player for the Redskin volleyball program as an outside hitter. Youngs was named an all-conference volleyball player following her junior and senior seasons and Concordia volleyball coach Dan Kirchhoff is excited to bring her into the program, "I liked Kara the first time I saw her play. She is a tremendous all-around athlete and plays much bigger at the net than her size," Kirchhoff added, "She also brings a strong work ethic and intensity when she is on the court and I am looking forward to working with Kara to make her a strong player for Concordia Volleyball."
Youngs has also completed a stellar basketball career for Coach Paul Ballard and the Belding Redskins. She completed her senior season averaging 14.3 points per game and lead the team in assists and steals. Youngs has been a three year starter for Belding and was named all-conference following her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. The Grand Rapids Press also named Youngs to its honorable mention team this season. Kara will be joining her sister Katie on the Cardinal basketball team as Katie just completed her freshman season for Concordia women's basketball coach Joshua Steffen, "Kara is going to be a great addition to our program as she is a very solid point guard but also shoots the ball very, very well, " Steffen continued, "Kara always competes and comes from a great high school program and a great basketball family; we are so excited she is joining us next season!"
