Sophomore Zane Johnston
(March 18, 2008 - Ann Arbor, Mich.) -- The Concordia baseball team began this season with seven straight wins - a new school record - and two members were honored by the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference as this week's Player and Pitcher of the Week.
Outfielder Zane Johnston (So. - Ionia, Mich.) helped the Cards to a split with Bethel College on Saturday as Concordia improved to 7-1 on the season. Johnston hit .667 in the doubleheader with a double and two runs batted in, plus a run scored and a stolen base.
Pitcher Drew Linder (Sr. - Bellevue, Ohio) started and won the first game against the Pilots as he threw five innings, scattering six hits to pick up the win in Concordia's 7-4 victory. Linder improved to 2-0 on the season with a 3.75 earned run average.
