
While the 2007 soccer season was disappointing from a wins and losses standpoint senior Joe Ventimiglia and two other Cardinals were honored by the conference in awards announced on Friday. In addition to being named 2nd team all-conference Ventimiglia was also named to the all-conference academic team. The business administration major was joined on the all-academic team by junior Nick Nabors (Jr., New Baltimore, MI). The final Cardinal to be honored was sophomore Andrew McComas (So.,Brooklyn, MI) who was named to the WHAC Champions of Character team for showing qualities of character and sportsmanship on and off of the field.
Ventimiglia was a consistent offensive standout for the Cardinals throughout his senior season as he led the team with three goals and seven points. The Lutheran North product also shared the team lead in assists. Nick Nabors started the year in goal for the Cards but was eventually moved to defense where he was a consistent starter. He was joined by Champions of character team member McComas on the Cardinal defense for the majority of the season.
The awards cap off the fine career at Concordia for Ventimiglia while McComas and Nabors will be both be returning to the Cardinal side next season and will continue to help improve the program and raise its profile within the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference.
