The women's soccer team will travel to River Forest, IL this weekend to compete in the first official Concordia Invitational Soccer Tournament (CIST). Concordia-Chicago will host this year's tournament which will include the Concordia-Wisconsin (CUW), Concordia-Nebraska (CUNE), and Concordia-Ann Arbor (CUAA). The tournament stems from the basketball CIT which is entering its 67th year and is the second longest running tournament in the country behind the National Invitation Tournament (NIT).
Concordia University-Ann Arbor Cardinals
2016-17 Record: 10-9
2017-18 Record: 1-0
The Cardinals return 9 starters from a team that went 10-9 overall and 5-5 in the WHAC during the 2016 campaign. A veteran group of seniors is on pace to go down as one of the most successful in the program's history. Concordia returns to the field after beating Cleary University in their first game of the season 3-1 on August 22nd.
The Cardinals will face off against Concordia-Wisconsin in their first game on Friday, Sept. 1st. The only other time the Cardinals and Falcons met up was in 2015 that ended in a 1-1 tie after going to double overtime.
Concordia University-Wisconsin Falcons
2016-17 Record: 5-11-1
2017-18 Record: 0-0
The Falcons finished with a 2016 overall record that was short of their expectations after coming off a conference title in 2015. Concordia-Wisconsin will look to a strong core of returners to get them back on track in the 2017 season.
The matchup between CUW and CUAA will mark the first game of the season for the Falcons.
Concordia University-Chicago Cougars
2016-17 Record: 10-8-2
2017-18 Record: 0-0
The Cougars finished 5th in the NACC last year but lost in the first round of the conference tournament in a 0-0 game that ended in a shootout. Concordia-Chicago will host Concordia-Nebraska in the first round of CIST games before facing CUAA on day two.
Concordia University-Nebraska Bulldogs
2016-17 Record: 15-6-1
2017-18 Record: 2-0
The Bulldogs come off a stellar season winning a conference title and qualifying for the national tournament. CUNE has continued that momentum into the 2017 campaign winning their first two games in dominating fashion by scores of 5-1 in each game.
CUAA will not face off against Concordia-Nebraska in this year's tournament as they play Concordia-Chicago on Day 1 and Concordia-Wisconsin on Day 2.
