(Ann Arbor, MI) The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the 2016-17 Women's Track/Cross Country Team All-District™ teams and Sidney Bosley was selected as a member of the 1st District Team. Sidney was voted in by Sports Information Directors from District 1 that includes 21 states as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
The Georgie native is an integral part of Concordia's track and cross country programs as she was named captain for both teams. Her hard work on the track carried over into the classroom as she graduated with a degree in Biology while maintaining a 3.59 cumulative GPA. Sidney used her leadership abilities in many ways as she was the Co-President of the Student Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) and a member of the Pre-Healthcare Professionals Club on campus. Outside of campus she is part of the WHAC Student Athletic Advisory Committee and one of thirty-three advocates elected to the NAIA's Association of Student-Athletes (ASA). Sidney represents the WHAC conference at the ASA and also serves as the secretary of the association. As secretary, she is one of eleven members within the ASA that are also a part of the CSA (Council of Student-Athletes), which includes all administrative positions in the association and a few members at-large. Bosley was also nominated to represent the WHAC at the American Red Cross NAIA Collegiate Leadership Program in the summer of 2015. After her two week leadership training in Washington D.C., she was able to organize blood-drives at Concordia and help save hundreds of lives.
This past summer, Sidney was nominated as the WHAC representative for the LeRoy Walker Champions of Character Award. One of the most prestigious honors in the NAIA, the accolade recognizes outstanding student-athletes for their academics, athletics, leadership, and dedication to living the core values of Champions of Character.
Bosley is the tenth Cardinal to be recognized on the CoSIDA Academic All-District™ Team. By being selected to the all-district team, Sidney will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America™ Team ballot where three teams will be selected. Current Cardinals Hunter Cox (Football), Rachel Hay (Women's Soccer), and Kari Borowiak (Women's Basketball) received All-America honors this year. The ten All-District and three All-America members are the most in an academic calendar year for the Concordia athletic department
The CoSIDA Academic All-District™ at-large teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. For more information about the Academic All-District™ and Academic All-America™ Teams program, please visit the official CoSIDA website.
