(Ann Arbor, MI) Spring practices for the Concordia football team was cut short this week due to Mother Nature. Though practice reps have been limited this week, the team is focused on bringing it all together for their annual spring game set to take place on Saturday afternoon. The game is set to begin at Noon and is open to the public for free.
First year head coach, Joshua Schumacher has been pleased with the team's overall growth and energy on a daily basis throughout the last 15 spring practices. With the amount of changes that have taken place since the 2016 season ended, Coach Schumacher has been focused on taking one day at a time while keeping the end in mind. Spring ball has been an opportunity for the new coaching staff to experiment with personnel, schemes, practice plans, post-season workouts. Players have been able to assume larger roles and more reps while establishing leadership voices among the team.
Despite all the change, Coach Schumacher will be able to rely on core group of veterans. The team will return return 37 letterman with 10 on the offensive side and 6 on defense.
The game will feature a variety of series between the offensive and defensive units. In between series, the team will incorporate competitions called "Champ Time" which will involve participation from fans, parents, and 2017 recruits.
