(Alma, MI) The second outdoor meet took the Concordia Track & Field teams to Alma College for the Charles A. Gray Invitational last weekend. Another strong meet from the men's throwers helped them rack up 57 points for 6th place of 11 teams. On the other side, the women placed 3 Cardinals in 3 events for 8th.
-Concordia placed at least one athlete in all four of the men's throwing events including three in javelin and the shot put. In his second career outdoor meet, Joe Duff added five meters to his javelin toss to claim third place at 40.81m (133'11"). Justin Blanch took third in the shot put throwing 13.27m (43'6.5"). Tyler Pummell followed in fourth at 13.06m (42'10.25"), and also threw 38.73m (127'1") to take fifth in the discus competition
-Joe Conner impressed in his first career meet with a win in the long jump at 6.69m (21'11.5). He also crossed the 100m line in 11.66 seconds for seventh place.
-Bryant Hudson paced the 110 hurdles field with a 15.27 finish and rounded his day out with an 11.37-second race in the 100m dash for third.
-Rebecca McDonald placed fifth for Concordia in the women's side of the 110 hurdles running a 16.61-second race.
-Megan Dophal hurled the javelin 25.45m (83'6") to set a new personal record and come in sixth in her first attempt of the season.
-Sidney Bosley set a new personal record of her own in the 400m with a 1:05.94 performance that put her in seventh in the competition.
The season continues in Delaware, Ohio this upcoming weekend where the Cardinals will take part in the Ohio Wesleyan Marv Frye Invite. The meet kicks off with hammer and shot put events on Friday night and continues Saturday at the George Gauthier Track.
